Re: Would you ever contemplate buying a mac?
I would only buy a mac if they had more support and compatibility for games.

Re: Would you ever contemplate buying a mac?
See The only way I would buy a Mac is if they NATIVELY supported games and I didn't have to restart and boot into a different OS. The only reason I would consider buying a Mac is for the operating system so its kind of a moot point there

Re: Would you ever contemplate buying a mac?
There are games made for OSX like Call Of Duty 4 - this is a native OSX game and it runs great too on the 8600 and 9600 I used ... there are others like the latest Command and Conquer and even Sims 3. You won't get the same number of games for the platform however as they won't sell as many. The bulk of games are made for Windows, can't see it ever changing. After speaking with a few game company representatives it seems the most money is in the console market due to the increasing piracy percentages. Who knows, we may all end up gaming on the Playstation 5 in the future when no PC games are being made !

Fat chance that happening. PC gaming will continue just fine. When they make good games with good support they will sell plenty of copies. When they release buggy games, ridden with problems and drm issues, or with stupid requirements, they will blame piracy. Just look at the Flatout series. They sold good on the PC with their first 2 titles, then went greedy and for whatever reason decided to abandon PC for their next game in the series. I think E.T. sold more copies than the Flatout "3" for the Xbox 360. There were always games made for the Apple computers. Some of them well known Windows games, others just for the Apple computers. I believe if they try to push the selling of downloadable games, the sales will increase for them. Gamersgate already sells them, it's a start. If Apple creates an itunes for games for their computers, then it would work even better, given time. The numbers of titles and individual sales will not be even close to PC sales, but with some clever moves, they could sell enough to give some well needed flow to the sales of games under OSX (or whatever). There is certainly nothing wrong with the platform.

It wouldn't even be that difficult since they already have everything in place to replicate something like that onto their PC dept. Not to mention since almost 95% of Mac stuff is proprietary it would be very easy for them to filter games based on system specs. Basically you only see the games that you are capable of running on the system that you are downloading them for. Also, integrating it into the iTunes account system would be a great system because that would allow you (much like the iPhone and iTouch) to get all of your games in the event that you upgrade systems or have multiple systems. Piece of Cake
