So you guys are positive that Guide Plus stops working with these new drivers?? So basically Guide Plus is my life and i cant do without it.
So basically this release is crap for older AIW cards? I'm still debating if upgrading drivers is worth 20 minutes to an hour (with problems which is stanfard) of my time.

Yup...this release kinda sucks. My Cat 5.13 and MMC 9.08 work just fine so no need for me to upgrade to this release as Guideplus is broken and the delay is horrible as well as picture quality. The only plus is I do like the new TV splash screen but I can just copy it into the mmc 9.08 directory and it should, in theory, work.

This release is useless as a pvr. Not only does the Guide+ fail but I am back to getting the old RManager invalid argument error when I try to use the scheduler. How is one to set a program to be recorded? Repairing the MMC installation doesn't help as it did under 9.08.
How did this garbage get out of the door?

I also lost WMP10, mplayer2, and ATI File Player mp3 playback.
Reinstalling WMP10, or renaming the codecs and letting it reinstall them, or trying same with mplayer2 didn't fix. I needed to repair install XP. See my thread about this in the DriverHeaven Tools discussion. RealPlayer and Quicktime were not affected by this. I guess they use their own mp3 playback methods. It's possible that this is a problem caused by the 6.1 Catalyst's as a guy in that thread doesn't use MMC and got the mp3 playback problem after updating to the 6.1's. DVD's played great though! What is that new Parental Control encoder for? All works now after repairing Windows XP. I did need to reinstall the Catalyst's over themselves to get Smartgart back. (Besides Windows Update.) Other than that, it fixed the mp3's and since my drivers are all signed, XP seems to have reinstalled all the drivers I had properly. Lucky! Even renaming the Fraunhoffer codecs and letting WMP redownload them didn't fix it!

This may be the REAL problem with the lack of MPG playback...
WMP and ATI Player Mp3 disabled after clean Just a heads up.

i think ATi's biggest problem is the hardware......the way they handle sound is crap.
That makes the hardware more complicated, and well, yea, I don't have VIVO to test, but my guess is that's part of the problem too |

This is the first set of drivers which have not locked up when using the TV program on my AIW X800 XT, so far.
I also for the first time have the TV, radio, GuidePlus, and remote working as well. I used the 6.1 Catalyst WDM and display driver, I installed the 5.11 Control panel after installing MMC 9.13, I have had problems with the Control Center so I avoided it. The only app I used from my original driver cd was the Guideplus which I installed last, after finally getting my remote to work, it took a few tries. There is a delay of about a second between the TV program and a TV in the same room but the sound is in sync with the video within the program itself, there is no skipping or sound pauses either. The sound crackles occasionally in the TV program but has not dissappeared yet as it used to. The TV picture is clear and the radio reception is perfect. MPEG, MPG and mp3 files all play fine. I have not tried to record anything as yet though. this is the first time since I got this card in August that I have used it for anything other than just a graphics card. I give them a seven, would have been higher but the five month wait p***ed me off.

What;s with the freaking LAG? Man ATI... this sucks.
Media player classic doesn't lag at all, but the software that is made for the hardware does?

Completely understand what your talking about.... as from the time you push a button the controller for the console.. to the time it shows up as an action on your monitor... is quite dirastic.... completely unplayable.... ATI did have at one point, it working fine.... example is my metroid review videos... all recorded using full RGB (MASSIVE videos several dozen mb/s)... no lag.. no stuttering... smooth as silk.... I swear, it ALL started when they disallowed us to choose Analog LINE in for our audio source....

4 people voted above rating of 5....... 13 below rating of 5... actually starting at 3-1... most are all 1...
This is quite obvious of some serious issues that ati has quite apparently missed .... full blown strike out at the plate atm.... Cmon ati, we KNOW the AIW MMC worked..... it has such potential and yet we aren't seeing this at all.... if anything it's getting worse....

It does seem that it either works for you or it doesnt... there isnt really a happy medium which is weird. Not sure what the above means but its an observation at least.
For me the app works perfectly 99% of the time... |

Not quite there...
Hi,
I had CCC 5.11 and MMC 9.08 installed. I just installed 6.1 + 9.13 and there are many bugs in MMC. First thing i noticed is the echo is gone from TV when you press record, so i'm thinking "cool!", unlike before even after i press STOP i still had echo. Always had to soft reset TV to get it back to normal. Today, i try and load TV, there's no sound. It keeps disabling CD and LINE inputs in my mixer, have to re-enable them and now all i get is static with the picture (???). Changing channels, the picture appears and starts playing then is freezes for a sec and then starts playing again. Never did that before. In guideplus, when you select a station the NOW button doesn't work. I had to fix all my filetypes, i guess this is normal, all multimedia apps always take over your filetypes, but at least most of them give you a choice when installing. I tried to install REMOTE WONDER 3.03, and it fails with a "...x10net.dll failed to register..." error. I'll do some more testing, but so far i'm not impressed, 9.08 was much better. I see ATI have guideplus for TVWonderElite, which i've been wanting to get but due to the powercinema soft, passed on the upgrade...

I think ATI needs to give MMC a kick in the ass and give us MMC 10! Stop focusing on CCC which now works for 99% of users and focus on this which is a serious problem.
By the way does ATI actually see this forum or the results of this poll? I would love to know. Its a shame such good hardware is bogged down with crap software |

Well, the drivers are good. MMC, for me , has slightly improved in that the TV app doesn't crash as often as it used to. Still tonnes O lag when playing my ps2 using the capture feature though. However, one new bug i have experienced is that when trying to use my mic for voice chat, i have to manually go into sound properties and change the voice recording check box from wave to mic. keeps on changing it back though for some reason. at least TV works.....but still not perfect!

File- Open Device- Video- choose your hardware Audio- your sound card line in No more lag. You can also scale your screen to exactly the size of your monitor- also you can choose 16:9 in your PS2 game options and scale that to your screen and play in 16:9 format.

Hi all,
I posted over at rage3d but it sounds like maybe here has better ATI visibility... Why this AIW junkie who frequently bought the latest AIWs is jumping off the train: 1. Lack of live TV: Without true live TV the audio/video lags real time slightly - this causes unpleasant 'echoing' in an environment where there's a real TV in one room and an AIW TV tuner in another (both tuned to the same channel). Its sad that an AIW can't even match the live TV capability of an el cheapo TV set. This is also an issue for anyone who plays console games into their computer. Certainly this is a step back with regards to hard drive access/CPU usage while simply trying to watch TV. 2. Lack of communication, part 1: MMC update frequency - Before, ATI had a policy of issuing MMC updates approximately every other CAT release. Then suddenly, poof, nothing until 9.13. OK, priorities change, but let us know. What is the loose, 'not set in stone' target for the next MMC update - March, Dec? Is there any thought as to giving us back some of the previous functionality or is that gone for good? 3. Lack of communication, part 2: Release notes - Fundamental changes for us multimedia users usually are not even documented in the release notes. Back when analog TV audio was changed to digital it was not even documented in any of the release notes, why? And where in the current release notes are the functional changes that are described in this thread? Certainly not in the WDM or MMC release notes... This past year ATI seems to be going a direction that some, perhaps many, AIW users do not like. Have not seen anyone from ATI explaining their 'vision-thing' to their AIW customers. At least talk to us, listen to some of our concerns, set our expectations once in a while. |
