Wdm Audio codec problem with 9800pro AIW
I have 9800AIW and have problems with the audio. Even if I plug the sound into the line in jack, they don't have any sound coming out of the speakers. So I went to the device manager and found out that it has an exclamation mark over the WDM Rage Audio codec. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Even better, does anybody have a copy of this driver that is separated from the bundle driver from the ATI software disk? I want to leave installing the drivers again as the last resort (installing AIW drivers are a pain), that is why I wanted to have a copy of the audio codec. I have send a ticket to ATI, but they just send me some random stuff on basically random topics that does not match with my problem .
Thanks

Welcome firyace
From the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel, select the MMC, then click the Change/Remove button and do a Repair - might help.
Also, from your Device Manager, right click on the device you have an exclamation mark over and click Update Driver, select not to connect to Windows update, and manually search your ATI - Support folder for the .inf, or the Program Files - ATI Multimedia folder for the .inf and use that to update the file.

I have a 9700pro AIW, and used to have problems w/ the WDM drivers until i started using driver cleaner. Heres what i would do
1. Download Driver cleaner from the driverheaven homepage. Its in the top left.
2. Goto www.ati.com and download the 5.9 driver set, or download any of the modded driver sets such as the Driverheaven Zer0point drivers (they include wdm drivers)
3. Uninstall all your ATI stuff from the control panel (do not reboot)
4. Run driver cleaner for ATI, ATI WDM, and ATI CCC
5. Reboot into safe mode and run drivercleaner for the above again. (when the add new hardware wizard comes up cancel out of it.)
6. Reboot normally, cancel out of the new hardware wizard, and run the setup for whatever driver set you downloaded.
7. Reboot and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the replies, I have already found the location of the WDM drivers in the catalyst disk, but windows can't install the driver, even if you click update driver in the device manager. Can anybody tell me what is the exact name of the WDM Rage audio driver is?

I have already uninstall the mmc a few weeks ago, because it hung up my system, but I am pretty sure the exclamation mark appears before the installation, so I don't think it was the problem.

Well, I don't wanna uninstall everything again, my omega 5.9 is pretty fragile. Last time I did something to it, it took me a long while to have the system running games again.
Well, right now I am using Audio input jack in my sound card to get to sound, it is just that I wanted to use the sound in av box thingy that came along with 9800AIW package so it will look better overall when everything is connected.

After reading your last post, I think I understand why you have the problem you have in the Device Manager and why you don't have sound - and I have an idea...
BTW, the WDM file name for your All-In-Wonder is 5-9_xp-2k_wdm_26409.exe, available here:
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...e&folderID=293
Wait for the panel to appear on the left hand side of the screen, expand Windows XP, then expand All-In-Wonder, then expand Radeon, then click on Previous Drivers and Software. Click in the center-bottom of the page on Catalyst 5.9 Windows XP - Driver Download. Scroll down to the link for the WDM Integrated Driver and click on the Download link to get the file.
You should be able to install that file without a problem because you are running the Omegadrive 5.9 driverset, which does not include the WDM file that normally comes in the Official ATI 5.9 driverset.
If I understand correctly, you do NOT have the ATI Multimedia Center (MMC) software installed right now, correct? The answer you give is important... If you do NOT have MMC software installed, please proceed. If you DO have MMC software installed then this procedure won't work.
If you do NOT have the MMC software installed anymore, and before you install the WDM file, delete the Audio codec that has the exclamation mark from the Device Manager. If you have any other ATI devices in the Sound, Video, and Game Contollers delete them too. They are used by the tuner and video capture portions of your All-In-Wonder, and should not affect your video driver and your card's use in 3D games.
Now install the WDM. Reboot.
Go to ATI's site and get the DAO/MDAC and Multimedia Center files for your All-In-Wonder
Install the DAO/MDAC. Reboot.
Install the MMC software - it should go ok now that you have the WDM and DAO/MDAC files installed, and set up your TV stuff - hopefully this will work - it should...
Any problems along the way, please post back - we're here to help...
