Tv OUT quality issues

Can someone point me in a direction to help me improve the picture on the TV out portion of my ati x800xt all in wonder? The letters are all fuzzy, and I realize that a tv isn't as good as a computer monitor, but there should be atleast some way to improve the picture. I was expecting to be able to play games from the computer and project them on the tv, but its like swimming in chlorinated water for an hour then trying to watch them. Also, when i'm watching a movie, ATI's CCP lists the viewing size of the tv as like 720x400 (just a random guess, i don't really know the exact size) but the tv's resolution should be 1024x768. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

The only thing I can tell you is that there is an option to sharpen the TV picture on the TV displays tab inside the advanced options.

Don't expect much better quality. Try making the fonts bigger, but the fact is, unless you're using an HDTV good quality cable, it will suck. TV cables and TV quality in general just suck

Stick to using it for movies and games and such and you'll be much less frustrated and happy, like me

Even the best standard NTSC (US, Japan, etc, non-HDTV) TVs out now only give about 500 lines of resolution - and that's using high quality component inputs from a DVD player. Actually, 640x480 most closely matches what a standard TV can handle to deliver a picture with good quality. The S-video output common to most video cards maxes out at 400 lines horizontal resolution.

The picture is further degraded by the conversion process from VGA to NTSC video through what is a mid to low quality converter included on the card. Exceptions to this are the Theatre chips used in ATI products - but mainly used only on their All-In-Wonder products.

The best you can do to get decent quality output to a TV is to reduce your resolution to 640x480 at 60hz refresh and use good cables - and the resolution selection matters more than the cables.

The other biggest factor is noise. Signal noise on the line will degrade quality hard.
