authorscript and dvd player not installing
I have ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0, it works pretty good but the installation tool would not install authorscript and the dvd player program. i've tried downloading new drivers, new multimeter center versions, uninstalling and installing with out any luck. can anyone help me? thanks in advance.

Did you try installing them from ATI's website or the CD that came with the Tv wonder?

both. the knowledge base support center for ati says the autorscript is a known problem and won't install on many systems but they say they are working on it (BS), but it doesn't say anything about the DVD player not being able to install, so i'm hoping someone can help me figure out a way to get that to work at least.
the support site also says that lower versions of the ati dvd player may ge tthe error messages i am getting if you have a newer directx version, which i do since it;s a brand-new new computer. it suggests downloading the dvd 5.0 version to fix the problem but if you download (which requires going to graphic card stuff that have a tv tuner integrated with it and since you need the cd from the graphic card and code from the cd, i can't install the software. now i got a dvd 5.0 version to start to install but it says "ati hardware not found". - Scott Last edited by shutout31; Jun 12, 2005 at 02:32 AM. |

You might be missing a codec or two, have you checked?

my new dell inspiron 6000 laptop has a dvd player/burner so i think it's safe to say that i have the codecs. but i checked the hardware manager for codecs to make sure and i found 3 different mpeg-4 codecs so yes, i have them.

If you download XviD or DivX i think it lets you use those, which is the same thing anyway ??? Correct me if I'm wrong

yeah. i can view my dvds with other programs so it's not really a problem. i just wish i could fix the authorscript or whatever is not allowing me to capture/record in higher quality (720x480 pixels) video.

My only advice to you is to try what I did to get things to work...
1. Uninstall *EVERYTHING* 2. Run driver cleaner *AND* cab cleaner 3. Install Catalyst 5.4 4. Install the DVD Decoder 5. Install any codecs 6. Install MMC 9.06.1 7. Install the remote wonder That allows me to do everything, its just sometimes MMC acts funny and freezes randomly |
