MMC and 3 things not working, and never seem to, need yer help please

Installling mmc, I get 2 programs/items that do not work and give me an exe error......cd player, and video cd. This has happened with 8.8 and 8.9.
I don't install dvd codec or dvd player, or launchpad, but everything else I install, but when I boot back in, and run either video cd or cd player, both come up with thier exe error, yet everything else works.
Anyone else have this issue, and is there possibly a fix?

The way I am and have installed and uninstalled is as follows:
Add/remove use the ati uninstaller and single uninstalls, I have tried both, no change
reboot to safe mode
cancel driver search/install 2 times
run drivercleaner latest 2.7, remove any and all ati traces
reboot bac to normal windows
cancel driver search/install 2 times
Install video drivers, in this case 4.2 cats
reboot
install dao-mdac
install ati dvd codec
install mmc 8.9 or 8.8, both have this issue with me
reboot
When I get back to windows, ati cd player, ati video cd, and ati dvd player all 3 give me an exe error, I hit ok, it closes. I get the agreement screen fine, hit agree, then it starts (or try's to) and that's when I get the exe error.

If ANYone had ANY clue at all how to fix this please help, this is really frustrateing.

Edit:
Well I have officially hd it, I am gonna sell this 9700pro aiw. No this is no a threat, this is me fed up with ati drivers. I am goinna be looking for a 5900fx vivo card.
Thanks for everyones help.

You probably won't find a Nvidia VIVO card that is up to date

I don't think Nvidia has put out plans for a Newer VIVO (like ATi's) card but good luck in finding one. later pete. I have not had this problem with the software as yet. But good luck with what ever you do. later pete
