MMC 8.8 EazyShare Problem
OK, I Just got MMC8.8 and installed it. I have a 9000AIW as the server and a Radion AIW as the client.
I am trying to use the EazyShare and the server recognizes the home network and the computers connected to it but the Client does not see the server. I have gone through the scant troubleshooting on the ATI website with no help.
Has anyone gotten EazyShare to work? If so, what is the name of the server program and how is it started?

this may sound stupid but do you have MMC 8.8 installed on the client machine?

Yes, 8.8 on both machines. When I look and the available client machines in the setup, all machines on the network are listed. I have turned off all of my firewalls to see if that was the problem. The clients do not see the server when I run the setup on them. Also I do not see anything special running when I use the Task Manager. When I look at the services running, ATI has nothing running
The error message I get is:
Could not find any valid EAZYSHARE(TM) servers on the network.
Please ensure your network and EAZYSHARE(TM) are configured correctly,
and that a EAZYSHARE(TM) server is up and running.
I don't know how to start the EAZYSHARE(TM) server or how to check to see if it is running.

Some EAZYSHARE tips
Your AIW 9000 can see the system with the AIW Radeon, which is a good start (that is through the Configuration Panel for EAZYSHARE on the server Launchpad, right?).
Your client system configuration page shows the server? (Clients get a different EAZYSHARE Configuration Panel in the Launchpad).
Your client system should have the TV-ON-DEMAND buffer set for at least 50 MB, generally more, especially if your delay is closer to 8 seconds. And do you have the AIW running TV already when you try to connect? Try just starting the client, without the TV Player running on the server.
Did you map a network drive to the folder on the server where recordings are saved? Can the client access that folder?
Try using the TCP setting instead of UDP.

as good measure run driver cleaner yank you drivers an mmc and the reinstall make sure your useing the mmc 8 and the cat 3.10's
make sure you windows firewall , and any added fire wall is off, any av should be off on install...
verify the pc's can see each other make sure it not a network issue
file and print share for microsoft netwaorks will most likely need to be enabled on the sever or it will be invsable on the network
verify that you went into the setting settiing one as the server and the rest as clients
veryify it works then you'll have to set you firewall(s) to work around your cliant machines

OK, I have tried all of the suggestions with no results. I am running 3.10 Catalyst drivers and mmc 8.8 on the client machines and the server machine. I have two client machines and both appear in the setup for the server. I an running a standard home network with all folders shared on all of the machines and I am sharing the internet connection. If it makes a difference, I am using another machine to connect to the internet that is neither a client or the server. It is the machine in charge of the DNS.
I was hoping that someone could tell me how to tell if the server is actually running on the server machine and how it is started. I could not find any files added to the installation on the server machine and I see nothing in the startup programs. I looked at the services running on the machine and could not find anything related to Eazyshare.
I have also found no help topics on the ATI website. Is there anyplace else where I could look for more detailed instructions?

Somebody at Rage3D had managed to solve this problem by adding identical users to both server and client machines. He had totally different user names (WinXP machines) at first and got the same behavior as you are.
Hope this helps!

Ati Easy Share and what I used
I used the latest software from ATi Suite 3.10.
I had the same issues with no recogizing the servers.
I went to configuration under the start menu in the ati software.
I configured Ati easy share to use the TCP stack protocols instead of UDP due to my broadband router does not allow udp but does allow tcp ( I have a linksys EtherFast Cable/DSL Router with four port switch
I then brought up both computer with fresh restarts.
I then tried to use the easy share under MMC 8.8 on the client station.
remember both system have to be running.
Make sure both computer boths use the same workgroup also
I then did not have any issues with the software after that
later

I was able to get every thing working on 5 computers in my home network.
I followed Ati recommendation and then added to it to get everything working. See below:
ATI Customer Care is providing the following workaround for those affected. The workaround may receive additional testing. Changes must be made using an Administrator account, and may require a restart.
On both the SERVER and the CLIENT machine:
Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services (or run dcomcnfg)
From the left navigation area, browse to Component Services > Computers > My Computer
Right click on My Computer > Select Properties > Select 'COM Security' tab
Click on Edit Limits under 'Access Permissions' > enable Remote Access for 'ANONYMOUS LOGON' and 'Everyone' > Click OK
Click on Edit Limits under 'Launch and Activation Permissions' > enable 'Remote Launch' and 'Remote Activation' for 'Everyone' > Click OK
Go to Control Panel >Windows Firewall >Click 'Exceptions' tab
Add the following two port numbers: port 135 for TCP and port 593 for UDP. You may use Eazyconnect™ as the name associated to each port.
Enable or add (if it's not already there) the following programs. You may need to browse for the programs.
a. File and Printer Sharing
b. Microsoft Management Console (C:\WINDOWS\system32\mmc.exe)
c. ATIMultimediaCenter (C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\main\ATIMMC.exe)
d. ON THE SERVER ONLY: HsNetCtrl
(C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\homestead\HsNetCtrl.exe)
I did as advised by Ati - above and it did not work so I did the following as well.
Router Set Up - Client Filtering
Ip address range, place in there what your range of network addresses are 192. 168. 2......... to 192. 168. 2.........
Port = 135,
Type = TCP
Always on
Enabled checked
My Windows XP firewall is off
Virus firewall is on and under personal fire wall I added an exception:
Created (Exceptions List) for Ati
Target - Specific application = location of "Program Files\ATI Multimedia\main\ATIMMC.exe"
Connection = outgoing
Protocol = TCP
Ports = Specific port "135"
Ip Settings - Type "All IP addresses"
Reboot and it all worked. I hope this helps, let me know if it did.
setLeftFrame("requestSupport", true);

I realize the original thread is pretty old but it has been added to and revived a couple times.
Is there a certain version of MMC that works well for Easyshare?
I have MMC 9.09 on my desktop w/ a X800XL AIW card
I installed MMC 9.09 on my Inspiron 8200 w/ a Radeon 9000 Mobility but only the Remote Wonder shows up in the start menu. I can't get 9.08 or 9.06 from ATI's website to install at all. The only reason 9.09 installed on my laptop was because I was able to deselect the Catalyst drivers from the install CD but you can't do that with the downloaded MMC's.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
James

Ya wierd huh...It came with my X800XL PCI Express 256MB All In Wonder card. But it's not available as a download. I asked ATI (via support ticket) if I should use 9.08 since that's the latest one available online thinking there might be bugs with 9.09 which is why it's not online but he said to use 9.09 with my card.
