Region code on disc does not allow playback

Hi everyone,

I need some help with the following. After doubting for a long time wheter to buy the ati 8.1 cd for my AIW 8500, so i can update the dvd to the newest version, i finaly bought it. But after installing from mmc from scratch the dvd player says to all my original discs that "Region code on disc does not allow playback"! But if i put in a copied dvd than there's no problem and the disc plays fine. So does somebody know a solution so i can play all my dvd otherwhise it was a wast of money buying the ati cd if nothing can be done. I hope to hear from you!

There may be some issues here

First off:

What region do you live in.

Second

What region is your system.

Third

System specs

Fourth

What region is you dvd drive in? check in device manager

Fifth

What region is you dvds you are trying to play?

Sixth

Download and install DVD genie but don't play around with it yet till I post again.

later

With the dvd genie software set the software/hardware to the region of choice. I believe that this is your problem then. I have experienced problems with patched region free systems.

The only alternative would be using Cyberlink Powerdvd to play the discs because the software is pretty versatile with regions and will play region free discs (because I have made some). That is the only thing that I can tell you and cyberlink will also send information to the second monitor.

Mine was region free patched and refused to play a lot of my discs. Does this only happen with certain discs? If the movies are RCE encoded then I would imagine this would cause more problems

Maby i didn't make myself clear. But region free discs are played perfectly with the ati dvd player. But original region 2 discs don't. I've played around with dvdgenie but it still won't play original discs. Powerdvd plays them well and since ati uses powerdvd's engine i thought ati dvd player would play the same. You might ask yourself why i don't use powerdvd. well i wanted full support for my remote wonder so i could use it as an real dvd player instead of using the mouse or keyboard. But if this realy isn“t going to work well than thats to bad and i will use good old powerdvd again.

Thanks for all help given!!

Maybe your issue is with ATI

The problem maybe that the region for the ati player needs switched to region 2 and not region free to play your discs. I don't know.
