Multi Media Panel will not install 9800 PRO AIW

Hope I did not miss this somewhere in the forums. Got my card and installed with new drivers, control panel, remote wonder and multi media software off ATI site (My install disc does not read on my DVD drive. All other discs read). Followed clean install procedure (had 9700 Pro prior).

During the clean install of drivers, I cleaned ATI registry entries etc. and followed install instructions to the letter. (Is there a code on the install disc that I removed when I cleared the registry? Is that what will not let the Multi media panel install correctly? I could read the install disc when I first put it in to see what was on it and now it won't read.)

I started over and now have the drivers, control panel and WDM drivers installed. The MMC 8.5 download gives me a runtime error and seems to want the install disc which doesn't work.

ATI shifts me to FAQ and other sites with no resolve. Have made numerous attempts but cannot get installed. Do I need the 8.1 disc for $9.99 from ATI to put in to load the MMC 8.5? This is a new 9800 AIW pro out of a retail box direct from ATI.

The 9800 PRO without the AIW functions is running games like I have never seen them before. This is a great card (other than the AIW prob).

System Specs

You will need the cd to authenticate the DVD upgrade. Contact ATI Tech Support via phone (or Customer Service) and tell them that your CD won't work on your system. They'll send you a new one for free.

In the meantime, you should be able to get a full install of everything except for the DVD decoder. You need to install the Unified Components, MMC 8.5, Windows Media Encoder 9, and the latest WDM and Display Drivers (all of which can be downloaded from here: http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver...14&submit.y=11 and here: http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver...=12&submit.y=7 ).

Good luck!

*It worked I thinkl????

Really appreciated the reply. I had missed the windows decoder and hope with that it will allow the MMC to install. I really didn't want the DVD decoder as I have power DVD. I am trying to get a new disc, but it appears to be a drawn out process. If the windows decoder solves it, I will be elated as I don't know why the runtime error installing the MMC 8.5 if it doesn't need the install CD and hope it is the decoder???
*It istalled with the encoder but in addition to a message saying the DVD decorder was not install it also indicate the UCI was not installed. Can you clarify what this is and if its a problem?? Thanks again!!!!

UCI = Unified Components Install

To install the MMC properly, you need this component - it contains the DAO component listed on ATI's website. Once you have all the drivers installed, install everything here http://mirror.ati.com/support/driver...x=7&submit.y=3 . You may be unlucky when it comes to the remote wonder software but version 1.5 is downloadable (can't recall whether it requires 1.4). I don't know why you got a runtime error - probably related to the DAO component not being installed. Let me know how it works out.

Shrink it appears to all be working-THANKS!

The run time error was do to the windows decoder I needed. The UCI appears to be the remote that I installed after installing the MMC ???. I had the DAO already installed from prior attempts. It looks like you got me working and I really appreciate the help! This card is fantastic.
