Choppy DVD when Using SPDIF on AIW 9000

Having problems with choppy DVD playback ONLY when using the "Pass Through to Audio Device" feature to the "ATI Rage Theatre Audio" Option.

Audio is fine but DVD Picture freezes for 1/2 sec every 7-8 secs. Driving me nuts. Using On-Board Audio on Dell DIM 8300.

Drivers Version = 7.90-030605m-009437C-ATI

ATI MMC 8.5.0.0
DVD Decoder 2.2.0.0

** On a side note, i've tried several previous ATI drivers to see if it was a new driver bug, however no help. I even tried to disable the on board sound and drop in a Soundblaster Live 5.1 Card and it still choked on the video, so it's not the sound card. Processor usage is around 18-28% when running application with no apparent correlation to the freezing picture

Could it have something to do with the SPDIF audio connection to my DVD Drive(s)....I've never used them before...

This is pretty frustrating, I have the Advanced Support Techs scrating their heads telling me they thought this problem was taken care of with the latest release of MMC8.5.

It should have been. You shouldn't have to use the digital cable from your dvd drive either (if that's what you were referring to) - in XP the signal passes through the ide cable. In the ATI MMC configuration utility, do you have "Output Surround Compatible (Dolby ProLogic) signal" selected?

I didn't have it enabled but I think it only matters when sending audio to the PC speakers. I did try to enable it just for kicks and no change....Still Choppy. Power DVD works fine, WM Player 9 works fine..It's got to be in the software for MMC, this card doesn't use hardware to decode DVD MPEG, RIght?
