X800 XL PCI-E. Static on higher channels and last 15 ch.s Blk & White.
Hey, I'm back in AIW Hell!
OS XP Pro SP2, I am a veteran AIW fighter but this one has me stumped. I have an X800 XL PCI-E. The same drivers that work GREAT for my AIW x800xt Catalyst 5.13 & MMC 9.08 and AIW X9800 Pro Cat 6.2 & MMC 9.08 (both are using NSP WDM analog drivers) I can't get to work... I tried several other combinations also with no luck. Cat 6.1, 6.2 and MMC 9.08, 9.06.1 ((I remove programs with add/remove and then use Driver Cleaner Pro, reboot into safe mode & run DCPro again & remove all the files left behind)). I don't have the original Install disk that came with the AIW x800XL PCI-E but I have other versions disks and have most if not all of the Catalyst Drivers and MMC versions (except MMC 9.10). I have partially had success with using the CD that came with the AIW X800GT (Card is the PAL version) which has CATALYST 5.7 and MMC 9.09. I say partial b/c starting around CH 40 I start getting static that gets worse the higher up I go, when I get to CH 60 the next ~15 channels are in Blk & Wht and 100% static can't hear any of the actual audio. They act like if I could fine tune the channel a bit like old VCR's / TV's used to allow I could get them to come in...but I dont' see that option. Also, unlike with the X800XT I cannot get the NSP drivers to install, it either installs the T200 drivers -OR- it fails to initialize. I tried unpacking the installation files, navigating to that ATI\support ...file and deleting the T200 drivers but it simply, instead of installing from the present NSP file it put a yellow exclamation in the device manager for T200 drivers and didn't install that part. And like I said on the X800XT AGP I have no problem getting the NSP drivers to install with a little help. QUESTION #1 Since the X800 XL PCI-E arrived on the market later than the X800Xt AGP did they change something so that it must have the T200 drivers installed? -OR- is there a way to force it to install NSP drivers and have them run. ((I mean can I edit the files in the WDM folder to make sure it's giving the NSP drivers the correct chance to install)). When I erased the T200 Folder from the unfolded install in ATI\Support\... After I rebooted all the analog drivers had Yellow exclamation and a dialog box came up asking for a .sys file for each. I pointed to it on the CD and all but the TV tuner installed, OH SNAP, Maybe I should have only pointed to the install folder ((GOING TO TRY THAT RIGHT NOW B4 I FORGET)). Anyway it failed when it got the the TV TUner, but perhaps that's b/c the .sys file I sent it too on the CD told it to look for T200 BTW I tried an older version of Catalyst (I believe it was CAT 5.5...but whatever the number exactly I made sure it didn't have T200 drivers, only SP and NSP drivers but still got the "unable to start TV" .... BUT IDK if that's because it needs/must have T200 drivesr -OR- because the AIW x800XL might have been released after CATALYST 5.5 so therefore it wouldn't have drivers be recognized etc? Seemed like the graphics card end of it though was fine??? but IDK if that answers it for the WDM as well??? QUESTION #2 What Drivers come on the disk that ships with the AIW X800XL ? is it MMC 9.13 / 9.14 etc. or one of the earlier MMC versions and what version of Catalyst. It maybe obvious but I am trying like heck to stay with the MMC 9.09 or lower drivers if it's possible. IF I have to go with the MMC 9.13-9.16 I might just as well install and use MCE 2005. ================================================== ==== On a different partition with MCE2005 SP3 I installed CAT 9.1 & MMC 9.16 (and although the channels all came in, I got green scan lines horizontal, and static in MMC 9.16, I also installed & tested CMC 1.0.3202 and it did it too, as well as MCE 2005) ...and when I tried to record in MMC 9.16 it only records for a split second (I believe this is a problem with SP3 ...so I'm sticking with SP2 from now on ...testing everything in XP PRO SP2). Sometimes stopping and restarting the TV Tuner programs helped make MOST of the scan lines go away but not reliable. I'm going to eventually try MCE 2005 SP2 ...Catalyst 9.3 & MMC 9.16. |
