Sad Captured Video is Vertically Stretched

Well, having researched various ways of capturing video the AIW seemed - at first blush - as an elegant way to go. Installation was a nightmare but the thing is finally working - sort of. I have a brand new ATI 2006 AIW PCI Express and a nicely configured Intel Duo Core with 2GB of RAM. Is should work well. Unfortunately, when I capture video from my camcorder the image is streteched vertically. I have played with all the various recording preset settings (taking advice from http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/...eg/atimpeg.htm) but nothing seems to change the vertical stretching. I am trying to capture in MPEG-2 DVD. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? The stretching makes the capture useless. (Also, the video playback of the ATI file player seems lousy - much worse than windows media player, etc... - is this status quo for ATI software)? Any help would be appreciated. I am using the latest catalyst drivers and MMC software (having first painstakingly removed all of the older crap).

Andrew
