Any brave souls tried it yet? I don't have much confidence considering ATI can't even post the correct link to the release notes.

Nice catch Just Learnin' - still no release notes available yet though...

I D/Led them yesterday, and looked today, and the release notes are now up.

As with 9.15, I made a 'test partition' with HyperOS, and installed CCC 6.12 & MMC 9.16. This time (unlike 9.15) MMC installed to the proper drive and all most everything went well. After the install and re-boot, I looked in device manager and saw that the T200 drivers weren't installed. I manually installed them, re-booted and started setting up MMC.

TV found all the channels it should have. I'll note that I'm using rabbit ears, so I can't say how it might work for cable. However it still records everything that you watch , so you still need the 'Reg fix'.

I setup FM, and I STILL can't get stereo on my headphones

At least it 'sorta works', and didn't bugger up the operating system, so I guess I should be happy with that.

Installed the new T550 drivers, CCC6.12 and MMC9.16. Uninstalls and installs went well, everything working but still some odd behavior here and there. Sometimes video doesn't display, sound is going, have to switch to another input and then back in order to see the picture.

There are specials on satellite systems right now, i might pick one up with hd-pvr and then dump this tv-tuner mess once and for all...

Absolute trash. Waste of time downloading and installing it.

AMD has now failed me now too. I am left to go to Intel and nVidia it looks like.

I think we ought to face facts: AiW is dead, permenantly

Hi H3X4D3CIM4L!

You are not alone.

I share your frustration. And I too have the same video card you have (X800XT AIW).

As you know, the card will work, with fewer problems (but not problem free!) with legacy drivers 6.2 and 9-06-1.

I didn't even bother with MMC 9.16.

Best of luck to you.

I've tried the new MMC 9.16. It is crap on my old AMD Athlon XP 1800 K7 box. I still use the original CD! Good ol' MMC 8.8. Works great. The thing about ATI's new drivers, is that the aspect ratio is all wrong, when you use a 19" widescreen monitor. Happen to anyone else? Does me, so I try the new ones, uninstall, use Driver Cleaner Pro, and go back to the CD. Now for my Media Centre computer (Athlon 64 3800 K8) , I have found that using drivers for AIW 800 series (instead of for X1300 & TV Tuner Elite), I have had much better luck now with Cat 6.12 and MMC 9.16. It is a "contraversial" method from what I hear from the techies at ATI, but after also using the new Theatre 550 stuff too, I have the most stable running system finally (not perfect and I guess it will never be). Still has it's weird quirks, but it is finally better than before (and I had to abondon that Power Cinema crap along time ago too). From what I hear, this will be the last release(????), since there will not be any All In Wonder products manufactured by the company anymore (heard this straight from ATI). What this means exactly, I'm not sure.

Thanks for the hello... but I've been in this part of the forums for a while now and I know what does and doesn't work with my card 6.2 and 9.06/.1 doesn't work too well for me but I know other things that do. I just hoped AMD would release some good MMC but noooo

Hello, I feel so frustrated that I am finding a lot of un-easy comfort in the fact that others are dealing with/or dealt with the same issues. I have owned a A-I-W 9600XT for several years now. (Can't remember if I bought it in summer of 2004 or 2005) but I've been using the 8.8 drivers and when window's update recommended an update for the card I tried it for a brief day or two a LONG time ago. It slowed everything down so i abandoned it and learned a lesson. If it isn't broke well...I have been so very happy with it that when I had a the chance to buy a used A-I-W x800 XT & X800 PCI-E cards I thought (newer) it would be better quality so I jumped on them.

Well I built a semi-retro system with a C2D & AGP mobo to use the A-I-W x800XT. I installed the newest 7.10 Catalyst drivers and didn't like the MMCs 9.16 instant on demand. I thought I was re-installing just the MMC software from the original CD but it was overwriting to the old Catalyst drivers too. Well I've run 3dmark06 and the newest Catalyst drivers improved from 1852 using Display Adapters 12/7/2004 6.14.10.6497 but after running with 7.10 drivers I get 2209. And that's a pretty dramatic jump for just a driver update to me. So I started on a quest for what MMC version's I could use that don't have the instant recording and can be used with the latest driver Catalyst drivers.

I have downloaded all the versions of MMC that ATI offers but 9.08 is the most recent one that I can find tht doesn't have TV on demand recording all the time....and the not so funny thing is that I get 100% passing from this setup (7.10 & 9.08) after running the PC system/compatibility check but the TV gives me the unable to start Tv error box. I click on the TV tab; and under the TV Capture Source it lists "No Default", and clicking the down error gives no other choices. Underneath that it lists "Driver (unsupported)". As far as starting everything else I get no other errors. Unlike under the original CD drivers I get serveral errors (that I have read other get under 6.14 & MMC 9.03) but yet the TV & other programs work fine?????

I am replying to you specifically b/c you mentioned knowing what combinations of Catalyst and MMC work stably together. I was hoping that you could help me out with some of these combinations that you found to work well. I am going back to try the MMC 9.16 with the registry hack to try and shut down the TV on demand "feature"...according to ATI's documents, the hack no longer worked after 9.13 but after reading some of the threads here that doesn't seem correct....that is after one more attempt reinstall the WDM's

If you have already treaded over this ground please, I would love a link to that info.
One other thing that frustrates me is not knowing exactly what is installed under what, and the correct order for when to do what. I understand where to find the individual programs off of the CD (if I have to access them that way). But I don't always know what program is specifically for what and why its needed...

Yeah I downloaded these drivers and they skullf@cked my baby and busted a nut on the soft spot of his head. I don't recommend them. Then when I rebooted; Jesus Crysis came down from heaven and proceeded to die on my crossfire for my "sins." I told him not to play at high settings at 1650x1080 with 4 times AA. ATI is definately damned.

@bdubslawman:
Welcome, you are not the first suffering from the weird combination of drivers and AIW-card-hardware that X800 is... That I have not yet jumped out the window or alternatively thrown my PC out of it seems a miracle to me.

Well, solution(s):
1. Learn the following about the drivers that cause all the problems:
ATIs Catalyst drivers come with three components, installed as needed:
- the display driver ('core'),
- the control SW (i.e. Catalyst Control Center these days, formerly the Control Panel) and - important for us AIW X800-owners -
- the WDM-drivers, which are needed for capturing/watching TV.

Now to the problem you describe: until Catalyst 6.5, the WDM drivers came in two versions, the analogue and the digital. When you unpack the .exe of a Catalyst-download, but not install it, you will find a folder called "WDM_ALL" and inside it either sub-folders called "xxx...NSP"/"xxx...SP" and "AVS_T200" or just the "AVS_T200". That means, the analogue version, which is represented in the "xxx...NSP"-folder, is NOT contained in later versions of the driver.

MMC 9.08 and previous versions only work with the analogue WDM-drivers, it's not possible to use the later drivers (anything higher than 6.5) with those earlier MMC versions.

IF you want to use MMC 9.08, you have to completely remove any drivers you installed (look around the forum for clean-installation instructions !important!), AND MMC of course, install again in the following order:
1. ATI Display Driver
2. ATI Control Panel
3. ATI WDM-driver, reboot
4. ATI DAO/MDAC package
5. ATI DVD decoder (only needed, if you want to use ATIs player for watching DVD, there are better solutions for that)
6. ATI MMC 9.x, reboot.

Personally I have so far used a compromise: use the latest drivers (earlier ones cause an additional problem in PAL-land: with them the CRT-display has to be on analogue connector, but then TV-Out won't work. So for a proper TV-Out I HAVE to use the later, digital drivers+DVI-connector and therefore cannot use MMC 9.08 as I'd love to do.)
I do use MMC for manual recordings only, thus getting the desired .mpg2-files for direct DVD-authoring.

For scheduled recordings I use a small additional scheduling software called "videotimer" (German; there are others, of course) and VirtualDub 1.6.17, set to capture mpeg4 with ffdshow (a DirectShow filter for watching any format and capturing from apps, like VirtualDub, etc.)

Hope, this helps...

Hello again,
Yes, this was helpful. But also had me wondering even more questions now. I clicked on the link to download Catalyst software individually (dial up) and it gave me the three components individually...made me wonder why I can't use the current display drivers and an older version of WDM? I am sure this has been tried thousands of times over already...

I have read a number of postings about people using other programs to watch & record TV. Some are free & others not. If I decided to go that route, I'd be interested in suggestions of programs to use and if I would just install the Catalyst software's three components or if I'd need any of the other drivers---like DAO?

I have installed Catalyst 7.10 & MMC 9.16. I have disabled the T-O-D via the registry hack.
Things I can't do:
-During recording there is a 30min time limit (I entered 1hr in the One touch record) but that has no effect on the T-O-D.
-Where the heck is the pause button or the renaming/(save as) bottom? I tape TV shows & like to edit out the commercials (saves a lot of space over time). Now the only way I can think to do it is to stop & begin again.
-Guide Plus opens and downloads the files, but it doesn't seem to be linked with TV correctly. If I select a show & click watch or record then sometimes when I open Guide plus I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Run Library error, and when I check the TV setup for "schedule tab" I get a RManager An invalid argument was encountered ERROR and nothing appears in the schedule despite having marked a few items.
-I can't get rid of the source "ATI AVStream Analog Capture 1" from displaying everytime I change the chanel...(I can shut it off completely but I just want the show name & Channel name/number).

-Is Guide plus supposed to be compatible with the new MMC's?
-I see Titan TV as part of the files installed but i don't see anyway to get access to it. On the TV player the TV Listings button is grey'd out & if I right click on it I see What's on TV now, What's on TV next & copy but all of them are grey'd out.
Is this the Titan TV function? Do I not have it installed? I see it in the add or remove programs listed. Do I have to remove Guide Plus to make it work???

=You mentioned you have a compromise on your system. Which drivers are you running?

Two most important things to me are the Pause button and getting some kind of TV scheduler program to work correctly with TV.

Guide Plus is supposed to be universally compatible. I've never changed it from release to release and never had specific problems with GP.

The rest I have nooo clue... try Googling for the Titan TV stuff.

(Hi, tried to get back to you, but some problems with userCP (solved now).)

Sorry, somehow missed your post. If you did not solve your problem by now:

Please note: I have an additional problem with this card connected with the fact that I am using it in Germany, i.e. PAL-TV-format. Certain restrictions apply concerning use of CRT + TV-out in our region (= PAL).

Therefore I have to use later drivers (6.12 and higher) to get this card working with CRT + TV... and am unable to use MMC 9.08 + TV-out.

I also tried to use the later display drivers + older WDM, but it never worked. Sometimes I get poor preview and capture works, but the captured files are of considerably less quality than ultimately possible - or don't get a picture at all.

The compromise I referred to is not using MMC for all recordings (as I'd love to do!), only for 'important' ones. In any other case (s.a.) VirtualDub 1.6.17 (ffdshow as encoder) and compression set to mpeg4. Recently I also get nice results with XViD.

There is a lot of recording software around, some people seem to get good results with BeyondTV. My system is too slow for the later versions which work with later WDM-drivers + this card. Might work for you, though.
I always liked the wealth of features one may access through BeyondTV's web-interface. The everyday GUI is simple and nicely ordered so no hassle in quickly finding all you need.
In case recordings worked (on my system...), quality of recorded files was fine, too. EPG integrated and you even may import XMLTV-data from external EPG (should you have one, as I do).
Anyway, I cannot use it, since... (s.a.)

Over here we don't get Guide+, so I cannot help you with that.

I get the 'source' ...xxStreamxx..-display as well, when changing channels but it doesn't bother me. I have not found anywhere to turn it off, only if turning off channel-number/-name-display completely, which you don't seem to be in favour of.

EDIT: You need to have only three components installed (in the latest releases always rolled into one, i.e. integrated, for previous driver versions separated into three parts), if you don't plan to use MMC. Sometimes later drivers seem to need the AVIVO-packge installed, which is really part of the MMC-software (otherwise TV sometimes would not work, for me anyway) but try what works for you. EDIT

Hi y'all.
I'm just a frustrated ol' geezer tryin' to make some sence out of the issue I'm having with MMC 9.16. It won't record off the ATI AIW 2006 PCIe for more than 8KB; that's 1 split second worth of video!

I had just reloaded my machine with a new XP SP3 system I bought off of ebay. My PC has a really old OEM loaded copy of XP that had been auto updated for the last 5 years. I thought a fresh start would be the greatest thing ever for my home built box of parts that calls itself a PC.

Hi Ed, I have a similar problem on one of my systems. It's with an AIW x800XL PCI-E card. I used XP Pro MCE 2005 SP3 Catalyst 9.1 and in the 9.16 MMC TV tuner application I can't get it to record for more than a few KB and it auto shuts off. And actually there is nothing in the file when i try to play it.
At this point my ATI AIW PROBLEM GUT BRAIN - tells me that it's related to SP3....? But I am having other problems with the card so I started my own thread...
