When I was younger, i felt the same way about math. didn't understand it in highschool, and not much better in college (though i gained an appreciation for it). I use math every day, algebra specifically. I don't do computer work, I do financial analysis. Math is incredibly important, and to truly understand the universe, math is the cornerstone of that. The trick is to not look at it like a bunch of numbers and signs, and look at it visually. Its hard to do, but once you get to it, math makes much more sense. Try reading some of Stephen Hawkins books, they opened up doors for me.
