hmm..... i think i'll pop this x1900xtx into this other machine.. and i wonder if it's worth taking the xtx and mastercard.... maybe leaving the master card in this machine and putting the other xtx in yet another machine.... 3 computers using the x1900's to there full capacity.
i just don't wanna leave them running overnight.

Yeah the site seems extremely unresponsive for some reason.. I even got a few errors saying too many connections try again later a few times. Before it was really fast though. Strange.

Woe - when you resize the GUI version's GUI window.. it shows all the molecules.. only when resizing though.. It flashes them across the screen in what looks like real time. Pretty crazy.
EDIT- don't do it too long though, or it breaks the GUI display and you have to restart the folding program.

I CANNOT and it will NOT allow me to run dual gpu....
it won't allow me to run more then 1 console
it won't allow me to put in -gpu 0 -gpu 2 in the same shortcut line.
How the hell do you use multi gpu!? did they not test this...
damn instructions are useless and unexplanatory.
so i went ahead and disabled crossfire and plug in my syncmaster 900ift, fired it up, and ati cat 6.10's say that my display drivers are out of date, please downloading from the following link (which it doesn't display a link)
Restarted, finally got the syncmaster to fire up, extended.. but using -gpu 0 for primary and -gpu 1/2/3 (trying each) results in error 99 which says nothing is there.
wtf?

OK, much restarting and fiddling and confusion later.
Not to mention this coming up a few dozen times while trying to extend onto my other crt monitor which totally doesn't make sense.
i finally got the sucker working (or so i beleive it's working.)
Course Display 3 is being used as -gpu 1 and not 2?

Cheat!
How much faster is the console version over the GUI version, I'm talking about normal CPU here, anybody tested?

I don't think the WU time completion is an indication of anything..
My second WU frames were much lower than my first- but both had 500 frames. Now I am on my third WU, and there is only 250 frames, but the frames are averaging 8 minutes to 13 minutes per frame, where before they were around 3 minutes or less for the first WU, and 2 minutes or less for the 2nd WU.
I think they are all just different. My second WU was done in about 11 hours or so, and this one seems like it will taker at least 2 days if not 3.
This third one also seems to be doing mostly pairs, triples, or even quadruples of proteins or whatever it's simulation. Pretty cool looking stuff in the GUI.

Ok ive had a few people asking why im not folding. so ive built a system specifically for this, comprising a quad core processor running one client and 2 GPU clients running two others (x1950s).
Hopefully this helps

Dont listen to judas BWX, is the epeni thing again. all the WUs are different. they actually sometimes send you a more complex one to solve depending on the benchmark results. its basically random.

wtf...
it won't let me fire up more then one client.. how the hell did you manage that Z?
if i fire up more then 1 gpu client, it complains about a the first instance and the first complains about the 2nd, and then the system is almost completely unresponcive till i force end process them both.
My understanding to get dual gpu, is to make a shortcut of the foldering EXE and then put -gpu 0 -gpu 2 in the same shortcut address.
Correct?
The instructions are simply, way to basic, and aren't really "steps" at all as they skip a few thinking you know all about how there program is saposed to work, and where to punch in tags and all that.

ermm "address"? Way I got it to work was to copy the console client into a folder, make a duplicate of all the folder contents. then go to start run/cmd/ cd.. to the folder. run the exe with the command tag. - if you dont know dos you can also create a shortcut to the exe and then add the tag "-gpu 1" - or whatever the number is into properties - target, after the quotation marks like you would with any tagged exe.
Incidentally i found although that monitor 2 was showing up in the monitors display as 3 it is actually 2. and then with the GPU ID you lower that by 1. so 1 (meaning gpu 0 and gpu1). pretty straightforward.

ok is this not what they suggest you do?
to use dual GPU mode?
Cause reguardless of what i do... running 2 of the GPU clients results in erros and complaining like i mentioned before.
