Nvidias Quality Sucks.... OMG the Diffrence is HUGE!
Just for a laugh i bought a Nvidia 7600 GT and took out my ATI X1900XTX
and i have come to the conclusion that Nvidias 2d and 3d quality trully 100% sucks compaired to ATI`s....
I wiped back in my ATI X1900XTX and what a diffrence in 2d and 3d quality..
now if that quality that Nvidia has with there lineup from 7600 GT right up to there latest lineup then im sorry to say it i feel sorry for NVIDIA users.
lol
rant overwith.. well not so much a rant more of a persional opinion....

I agree, I had a cpl Nvidia cards in a row, then i made the switch to ATI and never looked back, its been 9800, x800 now a x1800, I think ppl just look at the frames in comparisons and decide on nvidia on that factor alone rather than the big picture.

2D I never seen a bit of difference, 3D ATI edges out Nvidia but not by a lot.

i've have a SLI configured 7800 and 7900 nvidia setup.
In comparison to the crossfire, the SLI is more mature.
But that's the only thing going for it imo.
The quality in overall saturation of the colors and various aspects of the 3d app texture and sharpness is dull and washed out.
Using DV on nvidia is a requirement, it's the only thing that'll liven it up to even remotely come close to it. But i find it's almost to much at one point and to little at another.
Plus, on a 2560x1600 monitor, the SLI runs poorly with top quality settings compared to that of the crossfire.
YES, i would agree, the overall quality of nvidia is disappointing in comparison to the ati's.
The driver setup however is pretty much identical. Stable and without much of any noticeable bugs or errors.
And in a single card solution, i find that most of the time, the ATI counter part vs nvidia produces a much nicer looking 2d/3d image to look at period.

IMO, the only thing that i don't like about nVidia's cards when it comes to 3d stuff, is when there are many parallel lines close to each other. they tend to have a blurring effect.
but as to the original post, both cards are completely different. for a more equivalent comparison, you should have used a 7900gtx up against your x1900xtx. The extra pipelines, bandwith, and clock speeds make a world of difference for the quality in everything 3d. for 2d stuff, an mx400 works great for your desktop icons

lol you guys are nuts.
I tested the dam GPU for quality not Performance.
and im my eyes if i max the quality of ATI vs the same max settings on the Nvidia counter part the diffrences are HUGE in 2d and 3d quality....
Im not bias im just speaking the truth and no matter what way you paint Nvidia there quality just sucks completely in comparison to ATI counter part cards.

I disagree and have seen plenty of side by side comparison videos showing quality in games with various tweaks on and off, at high quality games are nearly indistinguishable on Nvidia or ATI. Then there's the articles with enhance a small section of a screenshot to compare antialiasing and those tend to favor Nvidia if my memory serves me right.
I went from an X800 to a 7900GT and I only see a decrease in quality when the tweaks are activated, which didn't occur on my X800. Tweaks are just that so I don't hold it against Nvidia.

I totally agree...NVidia's 3D IQ sucks. I had a GF6800, but swapped it for a X800 as the GF renders its pictures with too much moiré, especially in racing games and fps. The ATi is way more friendly to my eyes than the NV card.
Check out the screenshot in this article by digit-life:

Also highly recommend are the two BF2 videos made by firingsquad, showing the same scene on both vendor's.

You would actually see the difference more when you are looking at lowend cards too. Such as Ati 1300 >>>>>>>> 7300

In the article it clearly states you need FRAPS to play the files. Though if you have videonlan I would suggest trying it first before installing fraps.

Video clips mean shit vs actually seeing the 2 sucker head to head side by side, on identical machines and screens.
Nvidia quality vs ati is enourmously obvious... prerecorded clip isn't going to show much, not enless they are RAW AVI's @ 1280x800 for both, which would be 4gb for roughly 1 minute of video.

With all the optimizations turned OFF in the NV CP, the quality is very good. Gamma correct AA looks awesome, as well as transparency antialiasing, either multisampling or supersampling.. both look great.
It is when you start turning on all the optimizations that things go down hill.. more so with NV than ATI.
I see no difference whatsoever in 2D quality.

I'll agree with ATI having higher IQ. I had a TI4200 back in the day that had some hardware conlics with my computer. I switched to a ATI 9000pro and was like HOLY CARP!!! Tron2.0 looked beatiful on that card. So much so that my roomates girl was over when we were playing the discs against each other and she commented how much nicer my game looked than his. Spoiled all the fun from him having just bought his TI4800 the week before
Also right when the Nvidia 5700 came out, a Nvidiot friend of mine bought one and was playing some cames saying he loved his new card. I about puked when I saw all the texture corruption that series was famous for. He came over to my computer and his eyes about popped out when he saw how pretty my 9800 was.
I also feel ATI's hardware is on a higher scale than Nvidia's. I mean who only funnels HALF the hot air out the back of the case?
