As usual, my option isn't listed. Yes, it's a hog, but I'll be forced to use it. Eventually.
Add to that that there's really no feature in Vista I need that I don't already have in XP.

I voted for "shaping up well".
Why? Well, I'm trying to stay positive about Vista, but it's probably the DX10 stuff that really has my interest. I'm intrigued by the cross platform development capability. Could this mean the demise of totally crappy ports to PC?
Not to mention that it might end the regular outbursts of debate about the end of PC gaming as we know it.
And I'll be particularly interested to see how it affects the future development of graphics, both hardware (GPU's) and software (games and other apps).
I also like the idea of being able to buy a Vista version that's more tuned towards gamers (although it's probably just marketing guff).

i think it's shaping up nicely. yes, there are still some flaws in the OS that need to be addressed before final release, but overal, it's coming alone quite nice i think . although, i'm still not going to get it until i do my next major system upgrade .

Use it every day. If it had proper Crossfire support(doubtful tho), then I'd be retiring my XP drive.

I can't wait, but if it is crap I'll go back to XP until the bugs are sorted (that's assuming MS can get the bugs down to an acceptable level). I'm praying that Cisco VPN Client and my MiniMax wireless modem work with the x64 version of Vista.

shaping up well, but Aero still isnt as nice as OSX's interface. everyone that says its a hog can go to hell, because there are still losers complaining that xp is a hog. xp was damn good when it came out and still is, i mean 2 years down the line vista should be an absolute joke to run on mutli-core processors. i find it really stable, even more than xp. all crashes i have gotten are logical (ie software incompatabilty and drivers). stuff feels more personalized and newbs really should have an easier time operating it.

I am aware that XP will be supported for about 18 months after the release of Vista, and what I am hoping is that businesses will be reluctant to change to the new operating system, just look at the extended support being given to 2000. In this event the cost of Vista may well be reduced to facilitate sales, and anyway the period of grace will give the operating system time to mature and settle down, therefore 'bleh, but will eventually'.

It's not released yet, so it doesn't concern me. After it gets released, I'll probably update sometime when I have have some free time to burn, and am in the mood, but certainly won't be in any rush.

Hey!Laverne & Shirley....Havent herd that in years & years & years. As far as the OS goes I think I will wait a while til they get SOME of the bugs out of it.And its SO damned expensive! But my wife's company she works for has allready ordered a shit pot load of it so she's telling me I can get a healthy discount.I would be glad to look into this if any of U guys are gonna get the new OS...You would pay me exactly what I pay Columbia{my wifes company} and shipping. And I would be glad to provide you with a recept.

Operating systems should be boring. They should stay the hell out of the way while you do, y'know, fun or productive things. Desktop animations and wallpapers aren't really either of those.
