Same here, I've never had any consoles or portables, and don't see any real point in starting now.
Interesting that all the replies so far have been for not caring for either, but that it is by far the least popular poll choice.

for what i use either device for, i personally find the overall gameplay and games in general 10 fold better on the DS then the PSP. Although the PSP has other fuctions, they don't count for what i use the devices for. Portable Gameplay.

I for one always make a comment within a poll, unless it's one that i don't have any interest in.But the results at the time of this post is odd.
I for one was a hardcore console gamer right up to the sega dreamcast, after this i was introduced to the pc and this was the same point i lost interest in consoles.
Never tried any of the recent handheld devices such as the PSP or the DS so i can not give my opinions on these two.
Even though they do look good.Everyone to their own opinions which does make a good read.

I've used both for quite some time and I have to say that the DS is better for two reasons. It has MUCH better games and its more comfortable to use(playing games on the psp that require use of the crap joystick is a real thumb killer). Like said, the PSP can do more but who wants to lug that thing around to watch movies or listen to music? I own neither atm but the new DS Lite(?) looks sweet

i dont care for eather. really, i hate consules, handhelds or "biggies." some ppl might say its cheaper (which is like the only "pro" they've got) because you only have to buy one every 5 years or so, meening, which you can ALREADY observe with the 360, consules get outdated very fast. horrid graphics, vertually unmoddable... i know this isnt a "hate consules" thread, but im just listing my reasons for choosing my poll option

LOL!! You are right to an extent, but I would not say BF2 load times. That's a little exaggerated. Anyway, the newer games are better optimized.
I voted PSP. I love it for games. I use some of it's other capabilities like mp3 and ripping my dvd's to the memory card. The best feature IMO is the screen. It just looks so pretty. I still think that when I play a game on it!

haha, yea maybe not as bad as BF2 but some, like GTA, are pretty annoying. BF2 is definitely worth the wait

I couldnt agree more. I have a PSP modded to the hilt (cant really discuss in detail on the site in public ) and have a double life battery pack strapped into it with a few 4 gig HDs. That new loco roco is one of the most addictive games ever ! I agree with you about the screen, if you get a good japanese screen with zero dead pixels (which I managed to do after a bit of work), it really is a great portable.
That said, I quite like the DS as well, although I dont own one ive used it quite a bit as my brother has one, its good too.

Have had a short play with both, and all it did was re-enforce my passion for PC's.

As a console I'd have to go with the PSP. It's media functionality and some great games make it a good choice.
As a HANDHELD console I'd vote for the DS though. The PSP simply doesn't have that much portable style games (LocoRoco and a few others don't count).
So if I am on a bus or sth I'll always take my DS with me. On the other hand, if I know I'll have more then 15min availible to play I take the PSP.
So naturally I voted "I like them both".
P.S.: Now if I could only get my hands on the DS Lite...

I have a real problem with the PSP as a portable media player. The PSP costs $250 US. On the othe hand, the DS lite costs $130. The Zen Vision M 30GB hard-drive based portable media player, capable of playing music, pictures, and a variety of movie formats (including mpeg, avi, wmv, DiVX, and XVid) is $300. If you buy a DS and Zen Vision M it will cost you $430 and will get you a great dedicated handheld and a great dedicated portable media player with a massive capacity. By comparison, the PSP, as I said, costs $250. However, it will not play movies, music, or pictures out-of-the-box. You need one or more Sony memory sticks to carry the data. A 4GB memory stick will cost you $220, totalling $470. So it will take you $40 more to get 4GB of movies and videos on a PSP than it will take you to get a DS and 30GB (7.5 times more) on the Zen Vision M. If you want 12GB it will cost you well over twice the combined cost of a DS and Zen Vision M. If you want to match the Zen Vision M it will cost you 4.5 times as much and involve 8 memory sticks. That is assuming you use 4GB memory sticks, if you use smaller memory sticks the price increases substantially. So any argument claiming the PSP's multimedia functionality really being a benefit does not stand up when you actually look at what you get for your money.
Since the DS has no multimedia functionality, people who want that must get a seperate unit. Therefore if you want to include multimedia and gaming the PSP is really competing with people getting the DS and a seperate multimedia player. It loses big-time to dedicated portable media players simply due to the extreme cost of memory if you only look at multimedia and ignore gaming.
