fglrx won't let ubuntu systems turn off
hi,
I wanted to know it ati was aware of this strnge issue. the latest and also previous drivers wouldn't let dapper turn off. i'm almost for suer it's the drivers fault 'cause with the open source it goes fine, but after installing fglrx it won't turn off. its a problem that many have after googling around. hope it will be fixed soon! |

No problems for me on any of my 2 ATI systems with Dapper on them.
Do you also have the console-switching problem by any chance? (Going between the text console with Ctrl-Alt-F1 and X causes a system hang). If so then it could be a related issue. |

You need to get your DM (kdm/gdm/xdm/entrace) to restart X when session ends - that solved it for me.

yeah I didn't understand what he said. in fact the problem si when I reboot or halt my system
anyways if I restart my X server but hitting ctrl alt backspace it logs out of kde and brings me to the login system interface. if i shut it down from there then it will work. |
