Graphic-Card failure?
Hallo Everybody,
I'm working with a Connect3D Radeon 9600 SE since 1,5 years. During this time, I've got sometimes this image at the startup of my computer until the windows logon-screen. (The quality is not very goog, but I think you see what I mean...) Then everything is ok, except of some programs like Google Earth, where my screen switches on and of when I use the DVI port.
Is this a problem of my graphic card or perhaps of the motherboard?
Another question: I use Omega drivers, because they work much better than the original drivers. But am I losing the garantie if I use Omega drivers??
Best regards
Dirk

I don't think there are any warranty issues with modded drivers unless you overclock...that start screen doesn't look too good though. Failing RAMDAC?

That Defiantly looks as though the is a part failing on the graphics card.As for you're question about the omega drivers being at fault,these at the end of everything are only software which will not effect any part of you're warranty.
Looks like you need to make a RMA to either the store you bought it from or via ati.

@Rasta Monsta
What do you mean with "Failing RAMDAC"? Hope itīs not a too stupid question...
@MIG-31
Do I have to call ATI, if I want a RMA? It is a Connect3d card...
In the last week I called the german office of Connect3d (one person with a mobile). He told me, that it is a problem of my motherboard: "The graphic card only works with the information from the motherboard.". And in the moment I said to him, that I work with Omega-drivers, he was a little bit angry and told me I have lost every warranty.
So, you think it is definatly a problem of the graphic card an nothing else? So I will call ATI, or try it via the shop where I bought my computer.

i dont think you can lose warranty with using Omega drivers... only overclocking/using other fans (so physicly chaning something on the card) can lose ur warranty..

First of all, you should not be losing any warranty by using 3rd party drivers. As others have stated, only overclocking and/or physically altering the card would do that.
As for the image you sometimes get during the startup. With the Catalyst 6.4 drivers....and any 3rd party drivers I tried that were based on 6.4....I was getting a corrupted screen just after the Windows LOGO screen and before the Welcome Screen.
If this is the only time you see this particular corruption, I wouldn't be too concerned. I think it's the system switching from the native drivers that are used during boot up and into using the 'real' drivers that are used by Windows. It might be taking a few seconds to make that switch on your sytem whereby others may not see it...or only see a very slight 'flash' or even a blank screen.
So, if everything is normal in Windows, I'd not get too worried about it.

Yes, thatīs right. In Google Earth, the screen gets black every second, and after a while it doesnīt disply anything, because the screen realise a problem. This appears only with the DVI connection, on the normal VGA connection everything is right.
Sometimes in Windows the screen gets black, but only a very short time and then everything works right for a long time again...
