Wave/PCM slider doesn't work

I mute it - nothing happens.
I move it - nothing happens.
Am I only one with this bug?

MIDI/Synth slider works perfectly.

Well, I have XP. So, it is not an 9x OS issue.

yep, a little

>> and CREATIVE is free of this problem

Creative drivers don't have 4 independent wave devices
the problem arises because Windows 98 sometimes cannot manage 4 wave devices for each soundcard... [0/1, 4/5, 6/7, 8/9]
anyway, each 'virtual' device has its own mixer selectable via windows media mixer

Oops, there is something else - I was using Kernel Streaming as output method, so that's the reason why it didn't work.
