1900XTX is a POS? maybe? lol help help help

well lets see start off by telling you my computer specs...

AMD X2 4800+
Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe
ATI Radeon x1900xtx
1GB Kingston HyperX DDR 400
Windows XP x64 Pro

ok heres the problem any game well the 3 i mostly play work but then they crash... heres the deal NASCAR Racing Season 2003 loads up and works just fine till you get in the car where it has to load the graphics and then the screen starts getting black blocks in it and real statiky and then after about 10seconds the monitor just goes black... and u can still hear all the sounds the game sound be making but you dont see nothing... another game rFactor... mostly same problem but more expected you click drive in the car the textures go dark to normal... dark to normal kinda as if it were goin day to night... but then it locks up not i dont think its the computer becuz i can hit alt+shift+tab and i can end the process but this is really getting annoying the game worked fine when i first played on this machine on friday and i havent done anything but install more programs and now it locks up... could this be drivers or what really need some input on problem.

thanks for reading hope you can help.

Have you updated the BIOS on your board? You might want to read this just in case:

Asus A8R32-MVP Issues

It could just be a bad card, but try that anyway. ^

What problems have you heard about A8R32-MVP with Antec NeoHE 550. Both of these are ATI recommended componants for the X1900 cards and Crossfire.

http://img234.imageshack.us/my.php?image=grab0004gs.jpg

now i dunno whats happening im not overheating at all i idle at 44 -46C then when i look at temps right when it starts doing it.... its only at 58C. Ive tried 6.3 and 6.2 CCC and still does it have formatted 3times and tryed to fix it with fresh installs but still nothing. ive read about this problem with overheating cards but mine isnt overheating what gives? any game bf2 and hl2 does this also its very puzzling. any info on fixing this problem would be helpful and no its not overclocked everything is at stock setting and my computer specs are as follows...

AMD 64 X2 4800+
A8R32-MVP Deluxe
ATi x1900xtx
Antec NeoHE 550W
1GB Kingston HyperX PC3200
Windows Professional x64 Edt.

Noticed, you have the Windows Professional x64 Edt. in your sig. Im betting that is the reason, what is causing you that pixelating. EDIT: Im relating here to the ATI x64 driver version / support.

Sounds like a faulty card or a driver related problem

Just to let you know..

I used xp64-bit when I first got my X1900XTX three weeks ago. Ended up installing 32 bit xp pro because I was having wierd problems with games crashing. Counter Strike Source wouldn't even load, and Fear Kept crashing.

The artifacts on your screenshot look like the result of a bad video card that has been overclocked too much. But that is only the case if the screen looks like that no matter what game you have loaded and even on the dekstop. So the card is prolly good.

Install Windows XP 32 bit. Its solved all my problems.

Antoher side note, I don't think its entirely ATIs fault. I think that there are some general bugs with XP 64 bit, my buddy with his 7800GT SLI has problems witht he OS too, and we both went back to 32 bit windows.

My benchmarks between 32 bit and 64 bit windows yielded on average 1 fps difference, so you won't be taking a performance hit.

I registered just to try to help this guy out.

I have the same motherboard & video card, except w/ crossfire.

I tried the Neo HE 550 as well and I had no luck with this combo.

My first Neo would not even boot the computer.

The second one would let me play games but would squeal while extreme fps were being displayed (funny cause maxing quality settings removed the squeal, but thats for another post). Also, I was getting reboots after about 20 min of playing GW. (the "squeal" sounded like a overdriven/dying coil/capacitor.)

The third one would do the same as the second, except only last 2 min in a game.

(Just to show how borderline this PSU was, I had system reboots when trying to use my PCI modem due to power reasons.)

You may be wondering why I tried so many of these PSU's. Well I had really good experiences with Antec PSU's in the past, so I thought I had the lemon factor and was really trying to give it a chance. But I can't honestly give this PSU a thumbs up now.

I have the FSP 700w and things are better, games are stable although I think I may need to upgrade to even a larger PSU as I still have some current draw issues during extreme FPS cases (where frames are over 1000+/sec).

I also noticed odd graphic glitches with this setup while Cat AI setting was set to max. I lowered it to standard optimization on GW and the graphic glitches disappeared.
Hope this helps.

suggestion.

Maybe this will help.

Fix for AMD X2 CPU:
1. Install AMD X2 drivers.
2. Disable Cool And Quit.
3. Install MS hotfix for dual cores. Set the parameter to 1 in the datase!

more into:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=81429

Fix X1900XT
1. Install the Omega drivers.
2. download the PCI Latency tool. Set everything to 0 except the PCI Express/Video card - should be set to 32.

Best regards.
