Any idea why my Nvidia driver says OS is AGP 2x instead of 8x?

I just installed a 6800GS in my second system. I moved my old 9800 Pro to the older system.

Looking at the nvidia driver screen it shows the card following:
GPU, chipset, OS and Optimal.
Everything is AGP 3.0, with Sideband, Fastwrite checked.
AGP queue depth is 1 for all. My problem is that the OS says the max AGP rate is 2x while everything else is 8x.

Any ideas?

Gigabyte MB 2600+ Barton (socket A)
1.5 gig Ram (166mhz)
80gig IDE HD
6800GS superclocked AGP (evga)

Umm, actually it doesn't. On my slightly older computer (AMD 2000+) which I had installed the card into first, it said AGP 2.0, Fast write and sideband on, and for the AGP max settings, the GPU was 8x, the OS and chipset were 4x.

The nVidia driver correct this problem and set it to 8x even the OS says 2x, the real Agp value u have is given under "Chipset" , don't worrie.

System Specs

Before you do anything else, reinstall the chipset drivers for your motherboard (which you can get from Gigabytes site), then install the latest Nvidia display drivers.

BTW, you only mention that you have a Socket A Gigabyte motherboard. Can you tell me exactly what board it is?
