Falstaff

Trying to comfort a little boy while his mother sleeps the days away
opening his eyes to the reality of illness is hard enough to say.

That we are born to someday die is cruel and yet absolutely true
we have no control over, it seems there is nothing we can do.

The purest love between mother and child is something without fear
that one day when they both shall pass in heaven they shall be near.

No comfort from the terrible truth with courage he will find her again.
in boxes full of photographs, memories will help his heart to mend.

I had no advice to give nor a plan to help him heal
I listened as he said his prayers and held him so he could kneel

a higher power he asked for help to find his own way home.
for a few hours I gave him my strength and reassured him he was not alone.

One day I know I too shall pass and I hope I learned to live
I was happy just to carry him back home, and happier yet to give.

Life is hard, life is cruel and we may never find love or real joy.
I was blessed by a tender soul and gave my hand to a courageous boy.

It was one of the kids we sponsered last year, his mother died of a rare form of cancer, I wrote several poems and didnt post this one at first, but I read it recently again and decided to post it anyway.

tis true..
as the artist mirrors his or her soul
so to the poet or the writer
allows us all to see something intimate
or profane
or dark
or compelling
as long as there is a transformation..

thankyou very much, that means alot to me...I used to think I was a Carl Sandberg when I was a kid, but hey when your chasing girls all the poetry is the same..LOL

Hehehe, lol, yeah, true man. But you should never look down upon yourself, all big ideas came from little ones and all conessuirs came from enthusiasts, never let anything or anyone get you down Jeff, you're whatever you think you are at the end of the day, the world outside is a direct and exact reflection of the world inside. You think what you are and you are what you think. It's all about your thoughts and how much self esteem you have in yourself man. You can become anything in the world you want....but you have to start. Very important. Very important also is keeping in motion. As long as you're improving everyday it doesen't matter what anyone else says. So go write that anthology!!!!
