Well thats cool, but some people arent, and I think its a little arrogant of you to be coming here and critising code when in fact your own code
|
The code from 3dfusion.de isn't mine at all. If you want to see and critise my code, you should start at www.devshack.biz. So let's not talk about any problems of 3dfusion.de.
The only thing that really isn't nice (in my opinion) is that the new design of DH is not centered below 1280x1024 ( window size). How much user / members do you have who use 1280x1024 with their browser windows fully maximized?

Well yes we know the issues with centering at lower resolutions but if you had looked around the threads you may have seen ive already answered this and ive explained it is due to the fact the ATI ad is forcing the middle table to its dimensions meaning its not resizing below a certain width - we are still working with this theme. Right now i would rather have users to scroll slighty to the right rather than having things "wrapping" around which is just plain ugly.
You also may have found my responses more friendly if you had in fact offered your posts in a less smug and arrogant manner, unless of course you feel saying "xxx SUCKS with a winking smily" is fine. after all its fine being smug but when being smug it really is best if you are 100% aware of what you are talking about, you kind of left yourself open for the same treatment.
Anyway, as I said, id appreciate if you refrained from posting in this thread again, we are aware of the problems on lower resolutions and they will be looked into, but its not "sucky" code.

I am sorry if I sounded too rude or arrogant. It wasn't meant that way - maybe my english is just too bad (as I am german). My fault, I apologize

I'm a 1280 x 1024 maxed viewer (17" TFT) - font sizes are adequate, fortunately, as they are NOT RELATIVE and do not honour changing the text size in IE (that scores as a serious negative point on most "accessibility" ratings).

I dont want people changing the font sizes in IE. I dont class it as a negative at all, I dont want our vision being altered by end users or visitors, sometimes by accident.
You dont use the theme anyway. ill make you a text only theme with a DH logo in the top left with no flash ads, no java, no DHTML. Kind of like the net in 1996.

I really like the new layout, and whatever you did, made it load literally 10X faster on links, etc.
GOOD JOB!

I am not sure what we are voting on? I use pureheaven theme as everthing fits onto my screen (I use 1024 x 768 and firefox). Default theme is wider than my screen and though easier to read can be annoying if I want to see something on the edges. Besides that default looks great and is easier to read. Hope I was on subject.

I'm very impressed by:
- the quality of the skin
- the compliance with my expectations
- your ability to understand users requirement (previous poll)
Excellent job.

Actually you are the first to notice we went on user feedback for the new theme and im glad it appeals to you. It still needs a little fine tuning but im confident it is a good main (default) theme to attract potential members.
Cheers.

Definitely.. If there was a clone to this new theme but in midnight type colors, that would be a nice alternative maybe.
For me, midnight is just a work of art, and almost perfect in every way for my tastes... so it will be hard to top. I like the layout, use of space, colors, etc.. but I do like the new theme.
I always thought it would be cool to have the site be on a "theme schedule".. So I could tell the site that from sunrise to sunset (just input the times) I want theme "A", and then at night, I want theme "B"... For me it would be MidnightHeaven at night and probably the new theme in the daytime.
I wonder if any website is capable of that? If not, DH could start a trend.. wouldn't that be cool?

Nice, but the startpage is a little to wide when using 1024*768 (IE6), hate to scroll to the sides. It works great when exploring the forum and there isn't any emty spaces on the sides therefor no scrollbar at the bottom

Thats what I already told Zardon ...
The problem is the wide ATI banner in the middle.

I must admit, I like Techheaven on the front page, but the way it double-spaces the forum make me hate it instantly, Techheaven as is on the fromt page, and Techheaven colours with "Skyheaven" layout on the forum would be perfect.
More interesting in styles would be a choice of Postbit:side (works ok if Avatar display is off, otherwise lengthens short posts excessively), or Postbit:top (Avatar and text on top of post, better with avatars but makes line length wide).
Aha! - just spotted the post info (side / top) in user prefs - just tried it and it didn't work.

tough crowd
I like the theme and its the best choice for a default one as it is the most tech looking by far and I like all the gradients. It might not be my first choice as im a heavy forum browser and I like the darker themes but it certainly is the most impressive looking.
Good job guys

I'm used to BlueHeaven. In comparison, the new default skin is more artistic but it's hard on the eyes. There is not enough contrast between the background and the text to my taste (around the reply to thread window).
I personally prefer to have text on a solid color background compared to a color gradient background. It's easier to read.
The symbol of DriverHeaven with the motherboard behind it is nice. It look like the stargate. It it had a meaning it would be that once you cross the stargate of DriverHeaven, you will be in a world of electronics.
What's the meaning of "Every Enthusiast's 127.0.0.1 Since May 2002"? Is that a way of saying that DriverHeaven is our home?

127.0.0.1 is a loopback network connection.
This means that if you try to connect to 127.0.0.1, you are immediately looped back to your own machine.
If you telnet, ftp, etc... to 127.0.0.1, you are connected to your own machine.
In other words, 127.0.0.1 is you.
For example, if your system was named "joker", and you attempted to telnet to 127.0.0.1, you would see:
# telnet 127.0.0.1
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to joker
Escape character is '^]'.
Convincing newbie's to connect to 127.0.0.1 is a frequent joke on the Internet.
Another name for 127.0.0.1 is localhost.

It would be my first choice if the ATI Banner was smaller and it fit in the 1024 X 768 viewing mode. Nice look and feel!!!
