$9 software... well they have some favorable feedback, I think it is the same Win XP Professional x64 from the text.

Just the supplied XP 64 Firewall coupled with my Xincom Router

Software firewalls i find quite useless and if anyone wants in... they get around it....

I am using Avast for AV, because it was the only one that supported x64 at the time, I "THINK" that the new Norton will work too, but I am not sure. I use MS anti Spyware, that does some firewall functions, lets see , Spyblaster, Spybot and AdAware are in the mix too. I am behind a router which helps. I do not have a Dyed-in-the-Wool software firewall.

It's already shipped. Hmm..I used just about the same software too. I normally like a software also running to prevent anything from going out I don't want to. I'm using Avast as well, no way in hell I'll use Blorton. However, I have noticed the built in windows firewall actually asks about letting some software going out. Which is something I never seen on XP before. Oh well eventually some thing will be available. There is always the beta from Zonelabs.

yeah thats one thing i read about. So does vista mean the end to modded drivers? From what i read, xp pro x64 is just a modified version of xp pro 32, while vista is a completely new OS. Not that either excite me much

just read theres gunna be 8 different versions, seems a tad bit too much

XP Pro X64 is really based off 2003 more than XP X86.

Heard about the 8 editions of vista before, just another way M$ makes things complicated.

Pretty much what Snickers said.

If you want to give XP x64 a try you can download the trial. Just remember it's rather picky about what printer it will work with.

I'm really liking XP x64 By the way, has Starforce bothered to update their drivers yet?

I don't know. A lot of manufactures are releasing new drives soon. So I imagine they're waiting for those to come so they can screw them up too.

Kapitan is on a distinguished road

i've installed x64 since 3 days.

My opinion is that is not his time yet.

I don't have driver for bluetooth, integrate webcam
and for the memory card reader.

Firefox 64 bit is fast very fast but doesn't have the
java and flash support. For a normal navigation this
is a great problem.

I was very astonished viewing the 7zip 64 bit edition speed...

I think that is better to install a 64 bit linux...maybe is less
problematic on finding software and drivers.

So i think i'll return to 32 bit XP and maybe with a Debian 64 bit together.

IE 64 is also very fast but without Java and Flash support

I have used two AGP cards with it, a 9500 Pro and now a X800 Pro and they work great, but they did XP Home too.

why not, don't you want to see how fast these drives can pump data across the disk drives and RAID systems?

and Necrosis, i knew you want to try it, i think it must be a good drive and good use for you.
how much was it, with tax? if you don't mind...

I'm typing this on the trial version. I was lucky enough that all the software I use, and periphals work & have x64 drivers. Heck, even my Matrix Orbital LCD has drivers!

$285.00 /w shipping & no tax. I paid $119.00 for XP x64 /w free shipping.

The only way to really know if it's going to work for is to try it. Some people have issues, and some don't. It's a blessing to me since I'm not sold on Vista.

$285.00 USD for a 150 GB drive might seem to be a bit costly to you. as for this drive i'll have to pay a lot more than that. live in the US has numerous advantages over many other countries, the US has a very wide and lot of competitive market on most of retail computer parts (and some other things too).

as for the Vista, i don't really care about this OS right now, when it goes final then i'll try out the OS, will probably borrow an OEM builds machine with the OS and try it out. and see what i want to do with my own.
