Newegg
I have visited their offices in city of industry over by where I live. Its very sad looking. I saw a guy drop so many boxes and just leave them there. Newegg is not the big company the website makes you think they are, they are just a ghetto ass hole in the wall. I love their shipping for some of their product, but if its out of state it almost always late. Every box I have gotten from them has been damaged and RMA's take almost 2 weeks sometimes. Also they ship items in the wrong size boxes to save money. Also sales tax is horrid, had to pay 100 just in tax to get my whole rig here, I'm goin tiger direct from now on...

hmmm.. interesting. i have never once had a problem with NewEgg.
GreenDeathFlavor, you have to pay taxes only because you're in CA. If you had it shipped out of state to a friend or family member and have them ship it to you, then it would come out less than the sales tax, if it's a big order, that is.

yeah I know, it still sucks but if I had it shipped out of state it would have to be to Washington DC so shipping would have been horrid anyway, tiger direct = no tax. Crappy California uber tax doom.

Well over the past several years I can say NewEgg has gone down hill somewhat.. I still use them, but I have had more problems and have gotten the run-a-round more often in the past couple years than I used to. Actually I can say I have been straight up lied to quite a few times in the past year or so.. but this was only by a couple of people.
Then again, I have had many smooth purchases, with no problems, great deals, fast shipping, etc. Overall I trust them, them because I can always get what I want if something goes wrong and I am willing to put in the time, but it is not as good as it used to be.

Opinions from reading on this forum regarding Newegg seems to be split into the hate them or love them categories.
Incidentally who and what did they lie to you about?

PLEASE READ
added a poll to this thread so that you can tell us whether you like the overal newegg experience or not, giving us the ability to show in one spot the general opinion of this online retailer.
The polls will be re-set every once in a while, as company practices do change over time

Well now that I think of it, I only had one problem with Newegg. The forgot to ship my current monitor. I wrote them and a rep wrote me back apologising and said that it was being shipped that day. Other than that, my packages have arrived on time and in good condition. Sometimes they arrive a day early and other times they arrive a day later, because I missed the first delivery attempt.

i havnt orderd anything from them in about 18 months now, but when i did i had no problems.
i bought a mobo, heatsink, and keyboard/mouse combo. damn good deal on the keyboard/mouse too.
out of all that, only the mobo was DOA but it was no big deal. a quick RMA and everything was up and working.

Everything perfect condition, perfectly boxed, RMA is a cinch, some of the cheapest prices minus the damned California Tax.
And I live in California so packages always get here a day early, but when I lived in maryland, packages always come on time or one day late or so, so im satisfied.

I've never had any trouble with anything I've ordered from Newegg. Never had a defective unit, everything's always arrived on time (or early). And this is in Ohio.

Wtf mate, I don't remember putting a poll up on this, but I do remember thinkin bout it. I think my main problem with newegg is I expected them to be too awsome and the whole tax thing, and the defective PSU, and the defective Mem I had to RMA 3 times... but I can't think of anything else, half of my things got to me crazy fast then everything else took like a week for 3 day shipping.

I haven't had any problems with Newegg, and everybody I've told about Newegg has not had problems with them. I like both Tiger Direct and Newegg, got my new RAM from Tiger a couple weeks ago

Bought alot of gear from newegg and all of it arrived on time and mostly a day early. All of it was never even scratched and worked without a hitch. Only had to RMA one item. A IBM DEATHSTAR Hard Drive that was DOA and I got a replacement in two days after a phone call for the RMA. Usually have great prices as well. Highly recommended. And no, I'm not a stockholder

I've never had any problems with Newegg. Not everything I buy comes out of the CA warehouse. Newegg has several warehouses in different states. And shipping problems for stuff you buy off of Newegg or any web store are not the companies fault.

just curious....these things arriving late....were they recent, and were they UPS?
Newegg offers both now, and I always find their 3 day fedex to take 2 days....and tried the UPS once....and it took 12

I Just got back in town....
Well they promised me that a replacement monitor (for one that was DOA) would be shipped out next-day-air and that my return shipment cost would be covered.
They only gave me 25 out of 40 dollars and te replacement was shipped out UPS ground AGAIN, like the first one that was DOA, and then the one I got - "number 2" now, is a little messed up too.
I was waiting to get all my money back for shipping the first one back to them before I sent this one (number 2) back to them for a 2nd replacement that I was promised by a second person...
I never got the rest of my money, and I never shipped this one back to them. The problem with this one isn't that noticeable, so I might just keep it. It's an awesome CRT.
Anyway, it is a long story, it would take a much longer post to fully and accurately describe the entire situation, but basically I was lied to a few times by a customer service representative. If I kept pursuing this, I could probably get it resolved to my satisfaction, I just got sick of dealing with it and decided to keep the CRT I got- the defect is not that noticeable and it has a 3 year warranty from the manufacturer, so if something goes wrong I can go that route.
That is just one experience with them out of many very smooth ones.. so I still voted yes in the poll..

Never had any problems with the egg, I've ordered 6 things from them, all of them worked, were in perfect packaging, and weren't damaged in the least. Mine came from the NJ Newegg, so maybe they're better than the CA one?

I love NewEgg. I have spent way into 5 figures there setting up two different offices, and they have never let me down, over several years.
I generally use FedEx "Express Saver" and it gets from CA to OR in 2 days, every time.

They still haven't even begun to think about shipping it, they just charged my card and I'm still waiting.
