serial midi driver
I have a midiart gs 1000 module which has a serial connector. Do I need a driver to use it with XP pro?. I can find thr drivers for 95-98. But nothing for XP.

hehe... welcome to the REAL world of eh hem.. 'upgrades'..
I had a $800US Video caprture card that was abandoned by Pinnacle Systems...
Needless to say, I was I little dissappointed to NOT find any XP drivers for it...
Best thing to do is setup a dual-boot (XP & Win98) if its that important.
It doesn't sound like JUST a driver tho - a serial port is already a 'driver' that can be installed (or should be already) with JUST the OS... so... I strongly suspect the SW you have found is MORE than just a driver...
I could be wrong, as I cant find ANY info on such a unit on google...

No MIDI IN connections?
I would think it would have at least MIDI IN - if not a MIDI OUT...
can you provide any links - I searched musicians friend for 'GS1000r' - 0 results..

It has midi in and out, plus a pc interface which connects to the computer's serial port. the link for the driver is here

Ok - I found that - I looked at the driver - and it appears to allow gs1000 to functiona as a MIDI INTERFACE AND a sound module - but can be sure..
Other than that - I strongly suspect - maybe not best solution.. that you can simply connect PC (live/audigy/other midi interface) midi out to GS1000 MIDI IN - and it should work. ??
If not - maybe someone more knowledgable than me can help.

Yes I can do that. I'm mainly looking for a solution so I can run it out of the soundblaster loop. I had done it both ways and it seemed to be smoother when I ran it through the GS interface.
