Monitoring CPU Temperature
I'm not really sure how to check my CPU temperature, and I have a bunch of temperatures just laying around. How do I know which one is my CPU temperature?

Is it even monitoring my CPU temp? If not, how can I?

I think you have the wrong sensor selected, I mean your CPU is -119.. so unless you're on cascade or LN2... I donno.

Check the BIOS maybe?

I don't know much about the BIOS except overclocking the CPU... How exactly do I fix this?

also, in the BIOS, the CPU temperature is correctly displayed.

I'd say that MBM isn't configured right...and "temp 1" in speedfan probably is your cpu temp. Fire up prime95 or another stressapp, and see if the temp rises..

31 seems about right for an idle X2....especially since core voltage is like 1.35 volts

alright, I'm pretty much a n00b at prime95. I downloaded, extracted and installed the program. Now what do I do? and how does this fix my problem?

Go to options---->torture test----> and choose In place large FFTs
Now observe the temp1 reading, if it rises 5-8 degrees (or more...) pretty fast you know that that's the sensor for cpu...


Edit: I see that you use the K8N Neo4 motherboard, didn't that come with some kind of monitor software?

how long does the torture test take?


I will check my Motherboard box and check for discs that monitor temps.

It will run until you turn it off, or until it sense any instability within your system.

But I found the software that measure the temps etc, etc for your motherboard. It's called CoreCenter and can be found Here

what are safe temps for Toledo cores?






EDIT*** sometimes the CPU temperature reads errors like -119 C... do you think this is a problem? what should I do?

Your core is 38 so I wouldn't worry.... anything much over 55-60 is a worry point

My core @ idle runs at around 35-40C
My core @ full runs at around 45-50C

OC'ed @ 2464 Ghz presently.

Im going to the COMP SHOP on wednesday, and Im deciding whether to buy better cooling (fan/heatsink) for my Graphics Card and CPU, buy water cooling system altogether for the system (but I don't know much about this), or buy better RAM.

What's the best heatsink for processor without water cooling?
and best fan/heatsink (whatever) for GPU?

I favor the Artic Cooling Freezers. They're quiet, easy to install, and don't cost much.
