Surround Problem with latest release...

I just downloaded the Latest version of KX drivers. I have a Soundblaster live card. This version was supposed to fix the rear speaker problem (the problem being they don't work). It didn't.

I did the test and all speakers work: fronts, sub, center, everything... EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE REARS! I know there's a solution but I just can't find the two FXbuses that play those two rear speakers. Logic says it should be "6" and "7" but it isn't. They're completely silent.

HELP!

Read the '3538i bug reports' thread.

I think you best bet is probably to use 3538h for now (and depending on which AC97 codec your card uses, possibly using my T22X58O plugin as well).
You can get all the files needed to install 3538h (3538c -> 3538g -> 3538h), as well as the T22X580 plugin, from here.

What version of kX is that (it is not 3538i)?

In any case, your card has the STAC9758 codec, so 3538h is the first version that will work with your card (and mine) without to much trouble, but you will need to use the T22X58O plugin instead of epilog. As for 3538i, I think if kX detects your card as a SB022xa (-vs- SB022xb), then 3538i will work for you, otherwise it will not.

3538i works for me. The only problem is the rear speakers do not.
By the way, how do you install these plugins?

Download T22X580 (the version for 3538h, you probably want the one with the volume controls).
Extract the file from the Zip archive and put it where ever you want to keep it. Then double-click on the file to register it. Then open the DSP window and unload (make a note of how it is connected) 'epilog' (right click and choose 'Unload'). Then right click in the DSP window and choose to add an effect / plugin, and load T22X580. Then connect T22X580 the same way that epilog was connected.

BTW: You do not really need all the connections from Prolog.

Yes, just drag the connections. It may seem complicated at first, but you should get familair with the DSP window anyway, as that is where most of the power of kX is.
If you hold the mouse cursor over the connections, a tooltip will popup with a description of that connection. The one's you would mainly be concerned with are the speakers (Analog Front Left and Right, Center and LFE, and Rear Left and Right), so it is really only 6 connections you have to deal with.

BTW: To make a single connection, hold down the ALT key while making the connection.

Well, I've got to hand it to you. I finally got the rears working.
BUT Now I can't get the center working... I'm sure that's my mistake though. Is there somewhere I can get a write up of what connects to what?

You are using anlaog speakers right?

Under the default setup it is like this.
Surrounder+ fL -> timbre inl -- outl -> T22x58O fL (1st connector)
Surrounder+ fR -> timbre inr -- outr -> T22x58O fR (2nd connector)
Surrounder+ sL -> T22x58O sL (9th connector)
Surrounder+ sR -> T22x58O sR (10th connector)
Surrounder+ Center -> T22x58O Center (11th connector)
Surrounder+ LFE -> T22x58O LFE (12th connector)

On the card:
Green is front speakers
Black is rear speakers
Orange is Center/LFE

Make sure Surrounder is set to 5.1 and Surround mode is "On".

BTW: If you are still having problems and everything is connected right, try resetting AC97 (on the AC97 page of kX mixer). I have had it happen to me occasionally, where I would lose a channel and nothing I tried would fix it (including rebooting (cold boot)), and resetting AC97 fixed it.
