Don't want to insult you or anything, but you don't know much about Linux, do you...

Why would he have to know much about the kernel?

Over here we talk n00bish. In that dialect, when we say "Linux" we mean the whole package

I have been using it since it first appeared; it's nice, especially new GNOME 2.13 and GNOME Power Manager, but Firefox was broken last time I tried to upgrade.
New kernel also has problems, especially with wireless (can't connect to WEP AP, Intel 2200BG) and framebuffer (I see only display corruption during boot). But I know it's not a stable kernel, so it will likely be fixed soon. Of course, 2.6.12 works just fine...
Overally, it looks very promising!

I'm on Dapper Drake now, and I had my share of problems as well. Gnome session crashed on me, so I had to create another user to be able to login to Gnome. Furthermore I also have the "Applications menu not working" bug that I've seen people having in Ubuntu forums.
Other than that, nothing fancy so far, still exploring.

So, you were able to install Fx 1.5? I take you are not using aptitude, right? Because, I could install it with apt-get, but not with aptitude...
Dapper also has shiny new aptitude 0.4... really nice!
I'm not sure, but I think modular xorg also landed there!

I had injected Firefox 1.5 while at Breezy, so it kept that (meaning I had no need to use the version the repositories serve). And yes, Xorg 6.99 is used
