Multiple Soundfonts in Cubase SX

Is it possible to use multiple soundfonts in Cubase SX 2.2? I've created a song using a soundfont to create the drum sounds but I now want to add another soundfont for some Hammond organ. Is it possible? I'm using kxsfi to load the soundfonts.

I think you should be able to load more than one soundfont if using if using LeMury's VSTi here:http://driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=39285

I think you just have load into a different bank psition. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me.

yep hes right.... you can definatly load up to 10 soundfont banks into kxsfi. (banks can be one single soundfont or a collecton of lots of soundfonts) and then when youve run out of space just load another kxsfi into vsti and you have another 10 banks to load and so on!!!! dont forget to make the different sounds ( in your case the hammond) into different midi channels in cubase

Thomas & Trev

Thanks for this, it's a great help. Apologies for the delay in responding but I've been offline for a while.

Cheers, Mark

I'm afraid not - only one instance can be used. When more - last used instance forces bank contents.
BTW, why mixer may loads all fonts to one bank (0) and with kxsfi only 10 fonts can be loaded (specially fonts with one instrument inside)?

Because I wrote it that way.
10 Soundfont Collections seemes enough to me.
Of course in case of single instruments (1 instr. per SF), 10 may be too little.

A better solution to load single Instruments is (was) a SF Preset loader.
That is, user could browse/load presets from different SF-Files
rather then loading entire SF files
Unfortunatly kX SF implementation does not support Preset loading.
(This works great with CL drivers)

hmmm, i was sure id done this in cubase??? ill check when i get home.

of course you can always use a soundfont editing programme like vienna to create personalised soundfont banks... this would ensure you dont run out of sounds...

Ok, my next stupid question is - I can load multiple soundfonts in kxsfi but how do I get Cubase to recognise them? Every time I try to use them in a new track Cubase thinks that I'm using the first soundfont loaded, ie drums, but I want to use others. I'm using Cubase SX 2.2.
