sorry guys BTW, I noticed Alot of gamers have SP2 installed does this colections of patches aid in 3d and video, I tried it when it first came out but I didn't like all the changes. I don't seem to have any issues with anything, but was wondering if there are specific fixes with regards to graphics and 3d rendering..video and the like. I have the latest DX..so any opinions advice? thx

What's not to like about SP2? The Security Center? That can be disabled, but then it's up to you to keep your stuff up-to-date. Other than the Security Center, I do not see why someone would not want to install SP2.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is awesome! I've played it through 3 times....the latest on the expert mode. Just a fantastic game!

HL-2 is also the cream of the crop. (I just don't like STEAM at all! And, you being on dial-up, you'll likely despise it, too, since you can't play the game without all the STEAM updates and verifications.)

Like was mentioned above, a lot depends on what you like.

I still have the game installed. I haven't yet tried it online, so, yeah, that would be cool!

Co-op is the best part of the game, the VS multi is lackluster like in PT. The single Player looks really pretty but being a ubisoft Single player destoryer it wasn't long enough or hard enough.

Thinkin bout it now, I will pick it up when I can get the extra cash for it.

I use to have high speed I didn't mind online games but I like the one plyer game also I loved SOFII I stll play that game. etc. I probably would have HL2 by now but I was told it was more for guys online. as I said I am not a big gamer but I would like to have a collection of CHOICE games for company and when I feel like it. so I appreciate the info..also I don't mind the openGL games either, what I meant is games that would capitalize on newer hardware.. What is Splinter cell Pandora tommorow like? is it good? you guys seem to like splinter cell CT ..Pandora tommorw I think is on slae for like $10 new..or maybe it CT can't remeber. We have alot of used disc stores around here, so I ask the guy for a certain game and he buys me the best copy he can find..buys them from people who are board of them..etc..great way to collect games..thx guys..

HL2 Deathmatch is not what people by the game for.

HL2 has one of the most unique plots and storylines to date and it really pulls you into the game. Also what is your hardware? CT is better by far if your hardware can take it, then get it.

CT you mean Chaos theory? Well my system isn't exactly bran new but I am grabbing 1 gig of ram soon and I have a AIW 9600XT Video card..so I think I would be alright. All the games I have now play pretty good. UT2004, enter the matrix, SOFII MOHAA, I know some are old but seems OK...so you are saying to get Chaos Theory?

You should be allright, I could run single player almost full everything with 1gb ram and a 5900XT on my old system.

It is an awsome game but I can't nor won't tell you to get anything. Look at videos and screenshots. Read up a bit but if you liked the Splinter Cell type of game I highy recommend it.

Continuing with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory -- When I first got the game I was using a ATI 9600 Pro 128 MB card. The single player played and looked great on my system.

If you haven't gotten Pandora Tomorrow, yet, I'd actually recommend you do so and play it before CT. The reason being that, once you've played CT, you really won't want to go back to the previous ones. (At least, I know I would miss the knife and be complaining all the time about it. ) So, if PT is $10, don't pass it up. It's a great game and good one to lead into CT.

I really didn't have any issue with most games before, as long as I didn't try to get greedy with the ey candy..but when I tried DOOM 3 didn't matter what I did it just wouldn't work..not playable. But now that I have the 9600 XT I play game I played before but now I can crank up all the eye candy and they play fine. SO I can't see having any issue with anything like splinter cell, I have the first one still and I have been playing that here and there..but I know I want to keep the "story" going tI like the premise of that game very cool indeed..I will probably grab another installment in a few days. I also like the Theif games they are pretty cool and look great. I really appreciate your info guys, I am not a real big gamer but as I said I would like to have a few around when freinds come over or I need something to do..Sometimes I get right lost in the games though..gotta be careful friend of mine is losing his wife and all over video games..true story.

Well she deserves it : )

Yeah, don't let games take over your life. As soon as you feel they are (even a tiny bit) punch it in the mouth and turn off your computer or console for a week.

What I meant by getting lost is, I will play and get into it meaning I will keep playing until I get through a bunch of levels. BUT Usually I just play for an hour or so. I wouldn't let games take over my life. I said before I am not a big gamer. I see noby mentioned Doom3 though is that a openGL game? anyway thx for the info guys.
