Mini ITX dually arrives in Japan

"VIA's dual-processor Mini ITX board has hit the street in Japan. The VT-310DP sports a pair of NanoBGA Eden-N processors running at 1GHz, VIA CN400 north bridge and VT8237R south bridge chips, Gigabit Ethernet, and integrated UniChrome graphics with MPEG2 and MPEG4 decoding acceleration. It's an impressive spec for the pint-sized Mini ITX form factor, but the board's $530 price tag is anything but puny. Not that VIA is targeting price-conscious enthusiasts. The VT-310DP is designed for industrial and embedded applications where diminutive proportions and low power consumption are highly coveted. I still think it'd make a neat little home theater PC."

Maybe with a greater dual core desktop presence, the power of two 1GHz processors may combine, but at the moment, it's tough to find things that can make good use of dual core, certainly anything that is a likely target for Mini-ITX.

Actually, in HTPC, it might be good for recording on one thread/CPU while playing something else on the other?

There is also a single CPU board with the Unichrome Pro graphics and CN400 chipset supporting DDR400
