New Speaker Setup
Ok, I currently have the Klipsch 4.1's and while they're been great the last 3yrs, I feel it's time for an upgrade. I've been debating on getting the 5.1 ultras w/ the Monster Cable 5.1 speaker wires. I've heard those bad boys in a local best buy and they sounded sweet. However, a part of me is not sure it's worth it. Like I said the 4.1's are great; however, the limiter on the subwoofer is getting to be a bit annoying because I like a lot of bass; not too much that it'll overpower the satellites though. Also when I increase the master volume of my audigy 2 zs to 75% and above, the subwoofer starts to rattle, vibrate and the sounds becomes distorted. So to those who have the 5.1 ultras, should I go ahead and get them? I'm also considering what to do with the 4.1's if I get the 5.1's. I already have my 2.1's hooked up to my ps2 and I don't think I need 4.1's for it, since the 2.1's sound great by themselves. Since the 4.1's have been discontinued what would be a good price to sell them?

In Australia Kipsch is ridiculous expensive - about $1000 for one speaker in a surround setup..$5000 for some decent 5.1 speakers

I'd say to go for it, the 5.1 Ultras are quite a bit better than the 4.1s.
The 5.1 Ultras will probably sound fuller if you get them, since Best Buy is so large, the deep bass tends to not fill the space, while other speakers with higher bass do a better job of it when demoing the speakers in Best Buy.
Not sure about the price of the 4.1s, you could check ebay for a good idea.
Don't bother with the Monster Cables though, that stuff is ridiculously overpriced, any 16 guage copper wire will service exactly the same.
Zorg: These are Klipsch's multimedia speakers, not their home theatre systems.

agree 100% with Zelig. the 5.1 Ultras are great speakers.
And monster cable is crap. Wire is wire for most parts. Buying extremely overpriced wire isn't going to make your system sound any better.

Well thanks for the responses, guys. I was reading on the Klipsch forums and a lot of people seem to agree that the Monster wires are way overpriced and aren't worth it.

Believe me, Monster is way overpriced for what you get. I use Audioquest or Tara Labs. IMO these are better cables, but they are also more exspensive then monster. Doh!
As for speakers, I used to have Yamaha pc speakers with a sub. These are the best pc speaker I have heard, the bass will shake the room! But I have no idea is they make these anymore, I think they won some awards though...
I use my pc hooked up to a Integrated amp now running some Tannoy floorstanders. Sounds pretty good.
BTW - Wire does make a difference in many applications. Use a cheap acoustic research HDMI to your HDTV and it looks... well bad! Use a higher priced one, It will amaze you. Different cables also sound slightly different in my audio system. But this is a big debate that many argue...

The 5.1 ultras are sweet and will do you fine. Forgetting monster will save your wallet. I personally buy the phillips stuff on the roll from walmart and it has been great quality wire for me.

Well I went ahead and ordered the speakers from Klipsch's site. Went with their 6 monthly payments option, cuz I didn't have all the cash for the final price. Would have bought it from Newegg if I did. Oh well it's only $68.xx a mth for six mths. Will let you guys know what I think when I get them
