I pre-ordered!
I've actually heard some really good things about this game, they've put a lot of money & work into it to make it good. It sort of scares the hell out of me in a creepy "Ender's Game" kind of way, but the game itself should be pretty kicking. (It wouldn't be a very effective bit-o-propaganda/brain-washing unless the game was really good.)
I wonder if they'll really send a copy to a guy named "Digital Wanderer"?

Well they shouldn't have any problems with that. But they might if you went by the name "Osama Bin Laden"

It's based on Unreal 2 technology and they have said its a full version game with many levels and campaigns
even without the multiple levels and campaigns I wouldnt call anything with U2 tech freeware hehe

Isn't this call up ages. Get you in the Army cadets first then move you on....... Why not over 35. To old to run around, not......
Very Dubious

I sort of have this wierd feeling that they will collect this age information, store it in their database, and when the time for drafting comes, they will know where to go to. But then again, I bet all of this information is already out there, hehe, so signing up for this shouldn't be much of a problem. I'm just a bit paranoid I guess, oh yes and spyware worries me as well. Hmm... this whole freeware thing is a bit fishy...

If you're registered for the draft, the Army already has your age information stored, along with a bunch of other information. The spyware point is well taken, however. I may think twice before downloading this thing. Ad-aware might help, but you never know.

Well I'm saying if you haven't registered for the draft, and if not enough soldiers are available, then they will probably "politely" force some of a selective age into recruitment... (Just a thought). Of course, then again, I really know nothing about how this Army system works

Dodging the draft the Canadian Way...
I wonder if I can order the game, or if it's limited to American 13-35 year-olds...
I like the fact that it's free. Any game that's free can't be that bad, and if nothing else, it'll give me a nice tech demo for my new system.

The odds of there even being another draft ever are pretty slim given the more technical nature of the millitary these days, and even if they did there's no way they'd need to draft any man who's not registered for the draft. I could see them instituting the draft for women, given the fact that they really should be in the draft anyway, but it wouldn't be for lack of people. Almost everyone registers for the draft, you're supposed to do it whether you like it or not and you can get in a lot of trouble for not doing so.

Well, you can think about this in many ways:
<begin conspiracy theories  ... well not really>
1.) Is the Army looking for unmotivated, no-brained, remorseless killers? (Lamers, Campers, Snipers, Satchelers, Cloackers etc... )
2.) Is the Army working in collaboration with another branch of the U.S. government... and planting a trojan on your computer for the purposes of information gathering and or hijacking your computer? (There are probably easier ways )
---now the next one is based on the fact that this game is supposed to be "realistic"... and unless your CD self-destructs when you die... i don't think it will be very much so... but i'm going off on a limb now. THE POINT IS that if this game makes you "mortal" teamwork is going to have to be a factor (like in tribes or counter-strike or SOF). So for your conspiracy loving pleasure:
3.) The Army intends to use the simulation as an ongoing tactical excersise in which it can (through statistics and trial & error) calculate the best field tactics for a wide variety of situations... while using the free work of young adults who are untrained and unbridled by predefined thought processes!!! --- Yeah i should get the nobel prize or the electric chair for that one... you pick
One thing is for sure... i'll be the guy two blocks to the left of ya moving up on Osama's left flank with an M4. (Don't strain yourself--- it means i'll get the game )
