Weird problem

I recently built up a rig-

AMD64 3700 (939)
MSI K8N Neo2 platinum

I had no problems with it untill i left it over night. I woke up to my PC being off and it wouldn't switch on. It was asthough the CPU or something was too hot so it switched off then locked me out. I finaly got it on by putting in a different PSU.

I have had this problem 3 times since and it always comes on from something different. I use a zalman cooler on my CPU on full speed so it is definately cool enough! I just had the problem and finaly got it on (after trying a different VGA and HDD) by taking the front panel connectors out of the mobo and putting them back in.

When the problem occurs all that happens when i press the power button is for a fraction of a second it loads then cuts out. the fan blades slightly move.

I've no idea what the problem is as there are so many variables and the solution is never the same, Just wondering if any of you could share some advise?

What make and model of PSU did you stick back in to get it running? This last time sounds like you might have had a PSU go bad or had some kind of A/C power line type problem that bit your unit during the night.

It maybe just a crap board mate, these things can also be sensitive to the type of PSU used.

I remember reading elsewhere in these forums that a lot of people will never get another MSI motherboard.

I'm just wondering if that's the culprit?

i didn't think it was the PSU because i had the problem again on the new one.

i have changed the GFX (radeon 9550 - 9200 unfortunately)

also removed a dvd drive (was getting desperate for a solution)

and finaly re-wired the front panel connectors

and one of those variables has solved the problem (atleast i hope so) i dont see why it would be any of those but it has been working for ages of hours now..
