Waiting for the R520 to be released, talked about, benchmarked, criticized, praised, and put under investigation first .

i am interested in ATIs next offering. Am finding the problem with having native res of 1920x1200 is that you need a bitching card

For gaming at the native res or the IQ in windows? I never really found any issues with the 6800 ultras at 1920x1200 but I know some people complained of shimmering.

i have found with the x800xt with settigs on high, and trying to put moderate AA and AF on it starts to really hit FPS
i am being rather picky, as at 1920x1200 with high settings no AA and AF it runs fine. but BF2 looks nasty with no AA

What is the point of buying one of these cards anyway? they remain top of the heap for a few weeks, then they bring out a faster version and the model you bought comes free in a packet of cornflakes. Its a neverending cycle of wallet emptying stupidity.

This card wouldn't work too well on my "mid-end" system, I only have a 250w PSU

I'm content with my BFG 6800 ULTRA OC. Till I see the need to upgrade, I will stick with what I have as my games run just fine.

the amount of money you have to pay more for a 7800gtx compared to a 6800ultra isn't worth it in my opinion

what about - 'it looks great but do not need one at this time' or something along those lines?
my 6880gt at ultra will do me just fine for at least another 1-2 years. i think it(7xxx) is an impressive card. the fact that they brought it to market so soon after their last release is impressive too. i also think this is an error in marketing on their part. i would have waited 'till the fall.

i havent seen the spec for te 7800 but i am sure they will be "spectacularly" greater than any previous release.
What will it be? a 20mhz increase in the core memory? HD 3.7.6? Shader model 3.1.1.2? Please, this obviously isnt for the mainstream market? or is nvidia aiming there? gamers, honestly arent stupid, why upgrade to get 1 more fps, or a better 3d mark score than last time.
I am disgusted with how nvidia and ati consistently bring new cards out, i know its a matter of gaining market share, but idiotic in my mind. These cards wont last long...
