Some of my KX powered Tracks for you.

Hi,

I've been happily using the KX drivers for a few years now and they are the greatest addition to my PC! However I've only recently started viewing the forums, and I must say that I've enjoyed listening to everybody's tracks that have been posted.

I thought that I would bite the bullet and face my my shyness, so here is a link to a purevolume site I have set up with some of my kx recorded tracks.

As much as possible I try and get the feel of a band playing on my tracks rather than the reality of me multi-tracking at home.

It's nice to be a great company here on these kx forums, I look forward to making contact with some of you folks in the future!

Anyhow, enjoy the tracks , any comments would be appreciated!

Cheers,

Tom

Cool music - song 1 sounds a bit like early works of "The Cure" to me. Nice! Song 2 is very well mixed and with nice fx. Thumbs up! Song 3 is also cool - hey, a voice... and a flute... nice!

TravelRec,

Thanks for your very kind comments. I really do appreciate the works of the Cure (1979-1982), so your post was very flattering. Cheers also for your positive remarks about the mixing on track 2. I've got a melody line and some rough lyrics for that song, so with any luck a completed version will be posted shortly.

Your other post regarding a KX User sample CD is a fantastic idea. I would certainly like to contribute - as long as that is alright with you!

Regards,
Tom.

hey tom, ive missed this thread for some reason. sorry

youre doing well, good strong songs great melodies etc

song 1 mixed well, nice drums (esp like the off beat rhythm.. i would though as i am a drummer at heart! ) really strong tune. it feels like it needs a melody line and good strong vocals though. it feels like the song is a great backing track waiting for this to finish the song off, do you see what i mean? i'm saying that becasuse i like the song alot.

just to say that I'm terrible at melodies and vocals which is why none of my songs have them either so i cant really talk can i!!

song 2- yep the same,... good song. well put together.... esp liked the mid 8 with the "supertramp style" organ. again waiting vocals?

song 3- not my preference but still good.

overall great songwriting skills -welldone. all tracks well thought of and put together
trev!

Hi Trev,

Cheers for the comments. You totally get where I'm coming from with my tracks. Song 1 -5th Finger has been sitting around for over a year now, I know what you mean about it needing a melody. My former song writing partner heard it recently and he said pretty much the same. Basically I laid down this track to test out my 'studio' (i.e. dining room) after I moved house. Just a few riffs and no real direction! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I try to get my drum tracks as acoustic and organic as possible considering that they are all played on a midi keyboard. I can play the drums to an acceptable standard, and I guess that helps with the programming, however I can't fit my kit into my music room so soundfonts and Groove Agent have to do.

The second track is pretty recent. I'm still faffing around with it at the moment. I have a melody line and some rough lyrics ready to record, but my own voice and lyrical skills are pretty weak, so I might get my wife to have a go at it. The Supertramp Wurlitzer piano and Hammond organ was a deliberate nod to one of my favourite groups. Well spotted!

10 to 2: That track is 4 1/2 years old, actually recorded using the (crappy) Creative Labs drivers, so cheating really! The double tracked recorder solo is the bit I like the best.

Well, cheers for listening to these half finished random skimmings from my collection.

It's been good exchanging posts!

By the way, I've dug my copy of that book I mentioned on another post earlier. I'll respond on your thread.

Take care,

Tom.
