I have several questions about the games for people with more experiences.
My character is now lv15 and I'm in Lion's Arch.
The questions are:
1. Where/when/how can I have PvP match with my selection of party. Not the usual random ones?
2. If I use runes to upgrade my armors, are there ways to obtain the runes back again? In case if I want to upgrade my armors but keep using the same runes.
3. Similar to (2), can I obtain weapon upgrades back again?

1) Hall of Heroes or join a guild and engage in guild battles.

2 and 3) Anything customized for you (ie: Customized for Sabin Figaro) cannot be salvaged. Thus, it makes sense that if you add a rune to an item which isn't customized for you, it can be salvaged again.

I have about a 70% success rate of getting my runes back out of armor, but remember to use an expert salvage kit

You can get it back from armor that has been customized to you? Hmm.. intriguing. I wouldn't know, since I have yet to try it.

Anyone do that "Villiany of Galarath" quest? I just completed it with some people and henchmen. We used some dirty tactics towards the end.

I'm also creating a new guild with a friend, can I participate in guild battle straight away or do I have to finish the game first? How do I initiate a guild battle?

You can, but it's best to have at least a party of 8 before doing any form of guild battling. You can use henchmen in guild battles, but it's not recommended.

Hmm......reading the online manual, it says that we can have guild battles only when we have our own guild hall.
Also from my understanding, forming a party with your selection of team for PvP battles can only be done in the Tomb's of Primeevil King arena but not in any other arena.
are these correct?

I have a question about armour. I want Plate armour, which is the best way to get high grade armour and what are runes for?

I am Lvl19 and I have the Gladiator Armour, I have been looking everywhere for Plate armour, heard it was very very expensive.

Plate armour can only be obtained in the last city (or second last city) I think and they cost like 1500 per piece (plus a lot of crafting materials).

Runes are upgrades for your armor, which give special attribute to your character such as increasing your health point, increase your skill attribute, etc. Note that runes that you can utilise are only those runes that are for your primary profession. Runes can be obtained from killing NPC (or trade) and if you got blue/purple/yellow armor loot, then you can identify them, usually they are runes. Then you need to salvage them using the expert salavage kit to obtain runes.

you can get really good armor in the underworld but its like 30k a suit, goto temple of ages and kneel before the statues

I just started playing GW this month, mainly on the account of not having to pay a monthly fee. Ya, I'm addicted. I'm only a level 9, but I'm close to 10, No clue about runes, and I just killed bloodfang and found someones daughter's ghost, so I'm pretty far back there. I can't wait till I start getting the good stuff. I'm playing as "Mistress Red Death" if anyone want to quest with a noob, LOL!

I just tried that and yes you can get the runes or weapon upgrades back (using expert salvage kit) but not all the time, maybe 70% chance of not losing it.

Yes, you'll see later as you progress through the game, the game becomes much better and more enganging. Now maybe you feel that the enemies are easy but later on, you will learn how hard to defeat they are. Even in some cases, you'll need to think of dirty tricks to defeat them.
You'll learn this rune things after you're in Yak's bend I think. They start to appear there for me.

well, i hadn't gone to the courthouse city yet so i was running all over the fricken place trying to get to bloodfang. I was coming from piken. I did it at least 10 times total. Then I finaly gathered some real people to go with me, Made things alot easier. Up untill last night, I was solo (with AI of course).

Tell me more about these dirty tricks.

Well.....I usually lure the enemy and kill the enemy one by one if there are a swarm of them. The other thing is just to hit them from lower ground when they're in mountains so that we can hit them but they can't.
However, as you progress through the game, the AI gets a lot better and I may have to think other tricks.

I can't even finish the villainy of galarath quest yet. Tried it last night with 3 mates and a couple henchmen but we failed miserably. Maybe we need more players instead of henchmen.

Someone told me about luring with the little minimap,but I can't figure it out. How do you do it? Tell me in great detail please. They said something about the dots on the map and clicking them, I click them and I get squat.

Oh, & everyone stop playing until I get caught up, LOL!

I got one lvl20 N/Me, just need 15 more attribute points so I have them all. I got a second character which is a lvl 11 Mo/R right now I'm somewhere at the frontier gate with my second character.

Hey red.. to use the mini map make sure you watch the white circle around your dot.. that is the area that will set off monsters if they get in that circle. You can try to 'pull' 1 or 2 to you by 'touching' them with the circle and then retreating.. that will minimize a whole pack of 10 or more to rush you and attack all at once.

Can American and European players play together?

Is that what the International Districts are for maybe?

Have a lvl 15 Mesmer(love him btw) and a lvl 8 Warrior/Monk(classic Paladin wannabe, I know)

Yes. That's what the International Districts are for. W/Mo are everywhere. A majority of them are noobs that aggro things and believe monks are there to keep them healed. I hope you're not one of those W/Mo!

I am a Lvl20 W/N and healing seems to be my problem. I have a healing signet, takes me 2 secs to heal though, which can equal to 35 lacerations from a bad guy.

I'm using the same character as you and concentrate on blood magic if you want more health. You should try obtaining life transfer (elite) - although I haven't got it yet -, then you'll have plenty of juice for PvP or well of blood for PvE.

Yeah sure, maybe after I get to lv20 as well. Currently I'm about half way through the game I think.


BTW my character is Kimi Uoa W/N lv18.

I'm playing on the American servers, eventhough I'm from Europe. At least on the American servers everyone speaks english. It's anoying when 10people speak French, another 10 German, 3 dutch, some people english and what other languages they speak. So our guild went to the US servers

Maybe you want to check put the new update and its notes. Basically the update fixes your issue there.
