New Graphic card.. but what one?!

I want to buy a new graphic card.. got a Ati 9800XT now but want a better one for gaming.
So the big question is.. what card is the best one when it comes to AGP cards for gaming.
x800Pro x800XT x850XT
6800GT 6800Ultra
Any recomendations?

So.. what manufactor should i get as well, since i understand they have different preformance from different manufactors even if its the same card.. lets say X800XT

I would say get the X800XT or the X850XT. As for brand I have always liked Shappire And I Know right now the X850XT is only $400 at Zipzoomfly, Strangely the X800XT is $420 Can't say I can figure out a reason why.

Get the X850XT PE AGP.

These things are dropping prices into the 430 dollar range.

And also, don't try to get the X850XT non-PE over the X800XT PE. The X800XT PE is actually better than the X850XT non-PE. However, the X850XT PE reigns over all ATI AGP cards.
The X800XT PE actually has a 5% advantage over the X800XT non-PE But the X850XT PE has around 1% or less advantage over the X800XT PE. So either of the PEs will work. If you can get an XT PE for under 460, I'd say go for it. You'll notice a HUGE difference between 9800XT and the X800/X850 XTPEs.

As for Manufacturers... hmm... depends really.

GeCube so far has been a really high quality manufacturer. And anything "Build by ATI", you can't really go wrong with them.
Sapphire isn't too bad either. They actually have the cheapest X850XT PE at newegg at the moment, for 439 dollars.

And if you want to overclock, get the Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 (for X850). They make a huge difference in terms of temperature. Mine dropped from 45 to 33C idle, and load... never go past 60C, compared to 80 before... sometimes reaching 90 (my room is hot).

This is ATI btw.

As for Nvidia, you have to ask another. I, admittingly, do not try to compare with either the nvidia or ATI cards. I am a bit biased towards ATI.

If yer gonna get an Nvidia card, just go for 6800GT. eVGA, if possible. eVGA made the best 6800, according to the benchmarks. Actually, yeah, I'd go with the 6800GT if Nvidia. there's a 300 dollar one in Newegg, while the Ultra is like 450.

Sorry but what does PE mean? I try to find that in the productname or specifications when i search these cards but find nothing.
Woundering bout this as well:

In these card i see they using different kinds of memory for example
1. Sapphire Radeon X800XT 256MB GDR3/AGP/DVI/TV-OUT = GDR3
2. GeCube Radeon X800XT 256MB DDR3/AGP/DVI/TV-OUT = DDR3

Whats best and why?
Are all these cards at same clock n memory freq?

Platinum Edition

They are higher clocked, exception to the x850XT PE, which also has higher fill-rate and bandwidth.

6800GT or X800XL if you're not looking to spend a whole lot, if you overclock either of these you can basically have a 6800 ultra/x800xt for a bit cheaper.

If you got a lot of money I'd still reccomend a 6800GT then just flash bios or oc it, because just about every GT can do Ultra speeds. On the ATI side of things X850XTs are coming up cheap lately, but I'd nipe the X800XT. The X800XT may have a clock disavantage esp on ram, but the timings on the X850s ram is a lot looser and the performance isn't that great. Although X850XTs are pretty cheap so I'd prolly grab one of those and tweak the ram timings,

X850XT-PE AGP are very rare right now

Good luck finding one

I suggest a X800XT-PE or a X850XT non PE
you could find them easier

If you want a Nvidia card buy a 6800GT

Eh? X850XT PE AGPs are rare?
Uh... huh? I see them being sold at newegg, monarchcomputer, zipzoomfly, and a bunch of other places.

I forgot to mention:

X800XL does not overclock well. Especially due to the lack of a molex connector. However, some X800XLs DO have that molex connector, and those tend to overclock much better.

CrapolaJola's right about the X850 ram timings. They are looser than the X800s. That's why the X800XT PE beats the X850 XT non-PE in most benchmarks.

As for GDR3 and DDR3, I believe they are the same thing.

Edit: As for X850XT PE being rare, well, not so much in US or Canada. Might be in other places.

Yeah it is a good card. If it OC's well you have a good card for a good price.. If money was no object I would have gotten one of the X850XT PE's

You still got a 16 pipe card, so it will be a LOT faster than any 8 pipe card (yours)

Another good card in the same price range is the 16 pipe X800XL (ATI) - I think the powercolor one has a molex connector and as said, those OC higher. I think I would get one of those if I could, over a 6800GT, but it is a close call.
