DriverHeaven Photoshop V2 Benchmark - available for members

Most of the regulars coming to Driverheaven.net will be aware of the fact we run a custom Photoshop benchmark in all of our motherboard and memory hardware reviews. Today we are releasing the new overhauled V2, which offers full compatibility with V7 and the newest CS version. The V2 benchmark will be now featuring in our forthcoming reviews and is a fantastic real world test of cpu power and memory bandwidth. I have been using Photoshop since 1990 on the Macintosh and have taught many users how to unleash the versatility of this incredible application.

For download information and instructions on how to use the benchmark head to this page - please note you will be able to compare your system with future reviews with this benchmark as it will be the same one we are using.

It would be benefical if we could get a good array of testing, so if you guys could post your results it would help. Ill award a few people in the thread oversized avatars for taking the time to give system information and scoring.

1:Cpu - Speed
2:Motherboard/bios if possible
3:Ram
4:Photoshop version (V7 is slower specifically in Stained glass filter - read article text for further information)
and operating system.

Great, I'm going to do this bench later today, what system is best suitable for this bench, AMD or Intel, is Photoshop CS taking any advantages to Hyperthreading??

I ran it twice thinking I must have done something wrong. My guess as to why my score is better than some that have been posted is my Operating system.

System: AMD64 3200+
ASUS K8N Deluxe
1024MB Dual Channel DDR500
2x120GB Raid 0 Config
WinXP Pro x64bit Build 3790 (service Pack 1, v.1433)

Photoshop CS

1: Texturiser Test (1)
10.1 seconds

2: CYMK Colour Conversion
6.2 seconds

3: RGB Colour Conversion
7.8 seconds

4: Dust and Scratches
5.5 seconds

5: Watercolour
34.4 seconds

6: Texturiser Test (2)
5.5 seconds

7: Stained Glass
10.1 seconds

8: Lighting Effects
8.0 seconds

9: Mosiac Tiles
22.5 seconds

10: Extrude
72.8 seconds

11: Smart Blur
50.7 seconds

12. Underpainting
46.7 seconds

Total time: 280.3 seconds.

What were the results that Zardon ended up with? (edit) I found it. 145.9 seconds. lmao. Good job man. Asside from your lightning fast processor you are running a x64 OS aswell. This seems to be the only benchmark that really shows the 64 bit theory to be all it's cracked up to be.
Awesome benchmark guys. I think it's much better then the previous one.

if you have a firewall, make sure its not blocking referrer, this is why you would be seeing the leech page. The reason we have this in place is that other sites always leech our files.

Check out this thread maybe.

Make sure you have referrer logging enabled in whatever browser you're using, and check options in any firewall/privacy program for a setting that might be blocking it.

edit: I need faster internet.

One thing should be noted I think:

Even if you have lots of RAM, your harddisk setup matters quite significantly (Photoshop uses the HD a lot - for internal caching, etc.). People with lesser systems (CPU and RAM-wise), but RAID setups, for example, might see higher overall performance than people with higher-end, but RAID-less systems. So I think it would be best to include HD setup in the results.

That said, bench away

It is a balance, a small file makes benchmarking on modern computers highly inaccurate, hence the size of this file, 60meg..... any paging should be minimal with this test, even with the largish 60 meg file, 300 meg of ram should cover the file and the filters and tests applied (approx 5 times the size of the source file), however HD will make a slight impact especially with the CMYK conversion as the file will increase in size temporarily (80meg) until it is shrunk via the RGB conversion later in the benchmark suite. Therefore yes it will make a slight difference but minimum to the results - i tested with stratch disc set to a raptor and a 7200drive and the difference was under a second, a much higher factor will be the version of photoshop used as I explained with the documentation. Of course the more ram (with tighter timings/bandwidth) the better !
