NFSU2 Blocky Road Textures
I was wondering if anybody have this problem or know how to solve it.
I have been getting blocky road textures and it looks ugly as hell.
Btw i am using Cat 4.12 on a Hercules Radeon 9600 256.
Sys Specs are P4 2.66, 768 Mb DDR.
Help is appreciated.
Tanx in advance.

Have a screenshot? Mine seems rather ugly as well but I think it was meant to be like that.

Ill post a screen when i get home.
But you see in the demo i didn't have this problem and i heard on EmuForums some people are getting the same problem while others are not, and some say that restarting the game fixed that. Unfortunately that didn't fixed the problem here.

I've noticed it as well. The first time I ran the game many places in the roads had a very pronounced checker board effect (ugly). The second time I launched it the roads looked just fine and since then the checker board textures have been hit and miss. No idea what it could be...

Actually....to fix this:
- in ATI CP (or CCC) set the AA/AF to application preference and the A.I. to standard.
- if you need AA/AF, you can set this through the in-game options.
This seems to fix the problem for me (I'm also using the cats 4.12 beta). Not to mention that this way the game is much smoother. I guess it's true that the game knows best about its AA/AF.

I had the problem with A.I standard. Only happens on some tracks, not all.
I had discussed this in another thread too, funny nobody said there that they had the same problem. Glad to see I'm not the only one though.

I see, and do you have a backup generator for your town - for when you benchmark your pc?

haha....it actually all runs off a 470 watt PSU, surprisingly, even witha CD and a DVD burner, Firewire drive for the Audigy, and my RF reciever for the HDTV Wonder
its extremely efficient in that aspect
Back on topic

Interesting, I have texture filtering disabled. I'll give it a go and see if it helps.
Could anyone esplain texture filtering? I'm afraid I'm not exactly clued in on what it does.

many have experienced this, it's because the game does not auto-detect your hardware.
go to the advanced options, turn the texture filtering slider all the way up, restart the game, and voila! no more checkerboards

I don't understand what you mean by mom, it's not her giving you christmas gift, it's Santa.
Just pray that Santa is going to find your address!!

I might have inadvertantly fixed it myself doing this, I am not sure. Check when I get home. I just remember when initially playing the game I saw lots of blockyness at the bottom of the screen.

HAhahaha, who said I couldn't drive..? I'm doing well in NFS:U2 and my driving skills in HL2 are beyond professional.. lol, I'm having fun on the beach running over those rodents! on that map I took out all the bad dudes with my car alone.. hahahaha! NFS:U2, unfortunately I can't run over pedestrians.. I save that for San Adreas and Vice City. Nothing better than driving over a few hundred people and then perching on a bridge taking out tanks and cop cars below! Muahahaha! Then speed off!
