Suprised the game hasn't been leaked yet... And no, I'm not talking about the source code leak.

I think they're keeping pretty tight wraps on the game that we've been waiting for with baited breath for so long. After all, it has a better expectancy than HALO 2...and I thought for sure that it would be the champ this season.

Dunno which will sell more... Half-Life 2 or Halo 2? I was thinking Halo 2 cause not everyone has a good computer and alot more people have Xboxes.

more people have pcs, and i bet half life 2 is more anticipated...but halo 2 might sell more just because more people are into console gaming than pc gaming.

It's the international and Steam release Date. Check out the HL Falout forum (I think) for a list of times. It comes out Midnight on the 16th wherever Valvue is located in the US and it means that it will be unlocked at the same time on Steam. 8am on Monday morning for those of us in the UK.

Once it is unlocked, do you have to be online to verify it is a valid copy before you play it, or can I back it up to a dvd rom and reinstall it relatively problem free? (I am aware when you change drives or machines, you have to delete the blob file and let the steam client update it).

So many titles coming out - HL2, Brothers In Arms, Stalker Oblivion Lost, and many many more. I hate waiting...

That countdown that the thread starter linked to is wrong.
It's a simultaneous worldwide release, the Steam release is at the same time as retail.
lenchmob: its not called S.T.A.L.K.E.R - Oblivion Lost any longer, it's S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow Of Chernobyl. That's expected May next year, im looking forward to that one too.

yes, you must be online the first time the game is activated, once it is, you can start steam in off-line mode and play the single player.

for those that are interested....GameSpot has just published "The Final Hours of Half Life 2" on their website which details the last few years of the development of the game, including the source code theft and repeated delays...this is a very in depth and interesting article which details all the behind the scenes going ons with Half Life 2 over the years leading up to the final few hours until the game finally hits store shelves

I have to wait a lot longer. I ordered the COllectors Edition and that comes 2 weeks after the normal release. I hate the waiting.

You have to activate it online but not on your computer you can log on to a friends computer and use there computer to log into your STEAM account and generate a file to unlock the game on the PC not on the internet for HL2 but its most likely specific to the user. atleast that is what I have been hearing, and yes this method is suppose to be supported by valve

Here in Canada I looked on the FutureShop and Best Buy websites and they claim to have stock available as of 9 AM this morning. I also heard a Future Shop radio commercial this afternoon saying it's now available. I haven't called them though but will be stopping by the store on my way home from work to check it out.
Could it have been released a day early?
