Time for a new Vid Card?
Well..you can all see my 3DMark scores....haha *gag*
I thin this christmas is an opportune time for a new video card. I was originally gunna try and wait til next christmas...but I don't wanna anymore
So, what do you all suggest in the AGP market that won't set me back $900...lol
I'm very strongly considering Disptick's 6800GT that he's selling...what sort of score improvement woudl i see there? I'm ideally looking for something that would put my 3DMark 03 score in the 10000+ department. My 9800 pro at the minute is running at about 20MHz(400/370 I think) over stock, if that helps yall out any.
Lemme know!

Well I went from a 9800 Pro to a Gainward 6800 GT, my 3D mark improved from 6200 or something to 12600. I play everything with at least 4AA & 8 AF ver very smooth, the only downside to have an Nvida card is their driver support. I think it sucks.
But you can't go wrong with either a 6800 GT @ Ultra speeds or of course the might X800XT. Just don't go for a X800 pro.
And maybe if you wait a bit then you can buy ether the R480 or the NV 48.

Well it was, acutally more than double the perfomance.
But do keep in mind that I benched 3DM 03 @ 430/1200, at default speed (400/1100) I get about 12000, and at GT speeds well I did bench once at that speed I got 11100 or something like that.
But as my card is under warranty when running at 400/1100 I never ever go below that speed.

Then if you buy a 6800 GT, make sure that it do overclock to Ultra speeds, that way you have paid for a GT and got an Ultra.
But if you find a X800XT, then you can clock that beast to PE speeds and have the fastest card around.

If you get the 6800gt with a single slot cooling solution i would really recommend the nvsilencer 5....ahhh the silence, and it performce really well I
too
I put one onto my Gainward 6800gt, and i really like it alot....the soundlevel dropped from very audible to as good as completely silent. But it was necessary to mod the card pretty much to make it fit, i had to cut the second pci plate in half, and shave down some of the fins on the little heatsink that is closest to the molex connector (my warrenty is screwed )

The nv silencer have ram-cooling so you have to remove the stock sinks...but that wasn't a bad thing for me...i got a slight higher mem overclock with the silencer

No I got mine from a store in Malmö called DMS Enterprise, really cheap store, they had 1 in stock, now they don't anymore :-). I found it for 4474:- SEK
http://www.dms.m.se/ but it wasn't meant for me to take this card, I waanted the Inno3D first for 4000:- but they where sold out so the only options I had was the Gainward.
I did that oc with rivatuner and the fans was at 100 % just to be safe and I only benched 3D Mark 03 and 05.

taking a different opinion this, you dont really NEED a new video card, i can guarentee nothing is slow on it so you dont really need it.
showing a higher 3dmark score is hardly worth the 300+ its gonna cost you.

That depends, if you want to play with everything maxed at high res and with at least 4 AA & 8 AF the yes he would need a new card.
