Help!! I Think I Killed It!!!
WAAAAAAA!! I was doing my usual cleaning of my case. Upon finishing my rig started shutting off. Then all it would do is turn on for a second and shut-down. Now I found that if I unplug the P-4 power connector my machine will run, otherwise it shuts off immediatly. Do you guys think it is the board? Thanks.

was the system cool when you were cleaning?
did you use compressed air out of a can?
i blew up a power supply once when i sprayed compressed air inside and it cooled it to fast and something cracked,i actually heard it break.just sent it back and got a new one.later

well if you unplug the connector it runs, well it could be the power supply if it has some overload protections?? i bought a kinwin 450 watt supply once and if you plugged anything in one of the leads it would just reboot. maybe you hurt the supply when you blew it out , try anther one if tou have one handy.

OK I have the board on the table. Just the HD CPU 1 stick of ram and another PSU. All fans power up no post, no beeps, no nothing. I removed the CPU and same thing. The D-bracket has 2 orange lights and 2 red. I hope I didnt kill the chip.

So if you dont hook up the extra 4pin it will run? If so that is weird because mine wont. But try reseat the gfx card and see if it will boot with no cpu.

I don't think the unit will begin to boot without the CPU...
I would try to find or borrow a mainboard...
You try to do something good for your 'puter and this happens, bummer...

Well AMD called and said the chip is fried. They will be sending me a new one. Only thing is they are out of stock and it may well be 2-4 weeks. Since that is such a long way out they will either send me a loaner (3500-3800) or an upgrade. Man, when do the FX-55's arrive?

Well, at least they confirmed the problem and it wasn't your mainboard - and the replacement is free...
Hope they send you a much better one!

AMD called and said that since they still have no ETA on the FX-53's they sent me a 3500 overnite to use as a loaner till they get the FX's in. Is that great customer service or what? Anyway it will be cool to see how the 512 L2 cache affects performance.

Still waiting for my FX-53 from AMD. They are still backordered. I guess I'll give it another week before I start pushing for an upgrade. The warranty says they have to give me a "processor of equal or greater performance" Did someone say FX-55? Oh and the 3500 they loaned me hits 2.6 easy but just doesnt have the balls of an FX.
