geforce 5700 ultra probs

I just bought the geforce 5700u from newegg.com. I run one crt monitor (monitor 1) and one lcd monitort (monitor 2). This setup ran fine on my old card never had one problem, so of corse the new card has major probs. I thought it had something to do with the power supply so i got a new one. That was not the prob so now i come here asking for help. Heres the deal, it seems to be only in games, I will be playing then all the sudden monitor 1 goes blank and it does the power off self test. while that happens monitor 2 goes wack the screen looks kind of like what nintendo games did when the game did not read right. I think this might be cuz of the hurtz setting on monitor 1 is 85 and monitor 2 can only handle up to 75 hurtz (meaning i think the settings from monitor 1 try to go to monitor 2 and screws it up just a guess though). After monitor 1 goes blank the only thing i can do is hit the reset button. Is this a bad card should i try to rma it. o yea here is my system......500watt psu, amdxp 1800, gigabyte ga-7vrxp (4x agp card is 8x), 768megs of ram. thanks for any help.

Have you tried running a single monitor in different mhz and DPI to see if it will do the same thing? And make sure the card is not overheating, that will shut a monitor down and or lock your system up.

Let me know what you find out, I plan on going back to nvidia with the same card.

System Specs

the whole "nintendo" looking stuff sounds like major artifacts/a video glitch. i'd say the problem rests w/ your video card rather than the hz settings. like yallrun said, check to see if it's overheating. also try adjusting agp speed settings and running drivercleaner. if you had a radeon before this, drivercleaner could be the tool you need to fix it.

Ya know...I used to have that problem when I used Windows ME Oh so long ago.. For some reason, ME wouldn't register when I was playing a game...and it'd try to enter power save mode, or hibernation while playing a game. Eventually I just turned off all that powersaving crud as well as ME's Hibernation feature. I suppose that could be happenning here. As stupid as it sounds, It COULD be your answer.
