The DH review on the PNY 6800 ULTRA....
card says it's clocked at 400mhz/1.1ghz.I have my 6800GT clocked at 425mhz/1.1ghz.What am I missing here?Is my GT card running faster than the ULTRA?Again,I have to be missing something here...???.....School me please.

thats the Ultra's default clock speeds. (well...the reference 6800Ultra's standard clocks)
your gt is "kind of" running faster. it still lacks the fill rate/bandwith of the ultra's memory.

I thought those cards were identical expect for the clock being lower on GT.
I have my Gainward Golden sample GT wich is at default 400/1100, I would very much like to flash it into a Ultra so it is reconized as Ultra in WIN.

Clockspeeds are different across all brands... some GT's run reference ultra speeds... some non ultras run GT speeds.
Your GT looks like it has a decent core so eVGA utilised it, which is good for you. You maybe dont have ram certified up to 600mhz though...maybe 550mhz. Hard to tell...
Nvidia's reference is:
NU: 325/700
GT: 350/1000
U: 400/1100
UE: 450/1200
Then you get people like BFG who ship some cards at 475core...
Its a lottery really...however if you walked into a store and picked up a PNY 6800 Ultra it would be 400/1.1 as ours was.

I understand what youre saying.Lots of folks criticize me for buying Alienware equipment saying"Oh,you paid way to much".I have a good friend who is pretty high up in management down there and he will pick out the best componants for me.He tested 10 or so P-4EE's before he found one that he would put in his own machine. He did the same for my X800 Platinum & the 6800GT.If I order something from New Egg or wherever it's the luck of the draw. Please do not take this as bragging.I just think it's $$$ well spent....Could you expand on the RAM a little more?I dont quite understand what youre saying.

There is no UE. They are overclocked handpicked ULTRAS (kind of like BFG's OC series)nothing more.

Just that most Ultras will hit 1.2ghz easy...which is the max of 600mhz memory. As yours is a GT it might not have the same memory as the Ultra and may not reach 600mhz stable...maybe closer to 550mhz. You could also be lucky on that front though and hit 600mhz.
