A2d

Aureal 2d A2d is the 3D sound engine that is supplied with the KXproject drivers. They haven't got there own 3D sound engine,,,,YET. I'm sure that when Eugene does whatever it is he will do about EAX support and\or his own 3D engine, it will be better than anything else available. It won't hurt at all if you install the A2D engine. Just run the setup. It will be in your start menu after you install KXproject package. Then if you run any games that offer A2d audio, you can try it out. Also most of the time I find when I disable EAX in games, and just choose 3D sound or direct sound hardware, the game generally will run better and the sound in some cases is far better than cough...cough,,,gag,,the creative garbage drivers. If you install these drivers, You will probably ask yourself, Where have they been,,,,these are great !! Hope you have at least 2.1 speakers, like a subwoofer with 2 satellite speakers, If so, you will hear an amazing difference in clean sound. Needless to say, I did...

Good luck weedhopper..

Since about driver version 3534, I think the KX Driver has had D3D support other than the A2D driver. Doesn't that mean that the KX Driver D3D support can stand alone (and can be used) without the A2D driver, now? Or am I misunderstanding something here?

Sincerely, thomasabarnes

Yes, kX support D3D (DirectX 3D audio) without A2D driver... A2D is there for compatibility reasons, etc...

Now
how can I uninstall A2D?

Downloaded it separately from the drivers and can't seem to find any uninstall at the kX start menu items and the Add/Remove Programs.

Will leaving it installed spoil D3D or something?

no it will not affect D3D at all, but for games that only support Aureal sfx instead of D3D, A2D will take over, so keep it.
