Really? Are you using the ASUS K8V? Because I am using the Via controllers aswell. They are extremley fast in comparison to the promise. Also are you using raid? If so. What 4 in 1 Driver are you using?
|
Driver 7 - I'm using the K8V Deluxe, Hyperion 451 4 in 1's, the 220e Via raid driver and Two Maxtor 80 gigs in raid 0.
I've tried the Pcmark04 and the free version only gives a pcmark score not a split HDD/Memory/vga etc. Which to my mind is what we really need to give people an indication of where to look to improve scores.

Someone needs to get this straightened out! Are we going to use PCMark04? Some revised rules need to be composed soon, because I was planning on doing a rebuild and bench tonight!

I've just done a rebuild (had to, fubar'd my raid) and my full software reinstall is on hold till this is sorted, and I'm away from tomorrow for 5 days so I'll leave you all to sort this one out.
I've just checked out Aquamark and its a 64 Meg download.. that'll have to wait till I can get into the office (I'm still on dial up BT wont install ADSL round here-rotten bastards).
I'm voting for Crystalmark08, it's a small download and it's a whole machine benchmark rather than a graphics benchmark with scoring breakdown.

I havent tested any of the other mentioned benchmarks yet, but I would say that we have to use something that records the results and uploads them to a site such as ORB where the results can't be tampered with.
This would be the most important part of which bencher to choose because it means fair competition. As far as I can see, it would make sense to use PCMark04.

I for mainly selfish reasons second that. But if there is something else. What was the bench that came with Norton System utilities. Performance test I think it was. Was not all that great.
I dont care. Aslong as I can compete again. I cant just up and quit after a year of working on it. I was soooooo close before I turned Incompatable with 02.

Well, it would HAVE to be the freebie version, seeing that we cannot make everyone who wants to enter the competition PAY for entering it!

I'll go along with that. Should we edit our previous entries or post anew?

Is it official yet? It is the only option unless there are copies of sysmark for everyone somewhere.

Actually i have another suggestion.. this one if MUCH better..... you can post up links to the results... i would have to say it's HACK proof enless someone really know hows to get around it without screwing up there scores..... i've ran it using normal/low/high priroity with zero difference in scores except for the 1-2% thingy... it also will bring you down if you have ANY errors or possible problems with your rig durring the test... go to www.PCPITSTOP.com and register for free.... run the FULL test.... finish with the results... (usually for a machine like mine... i get around 1500 for marks)..... small download is nessary... using an active x installer.... 3mb i think... so very very dailup friendly.... give me a bit to do another test with it and i'll figure out how to post up results again.... (they even have a compare kinda thing)

Basically.. it doesn't matter what resolution you run... but it does matter if you have background programs running...
Basically the same as 3d mark.... it's quick easy.... and give you some information back....
You can directly link to your score for others to see by click the "Share your score via tech express" link and coping the link they provide...
When you run the test... at the end.. it'll ask you were you are.... what your connection is.. how fast it's rated... to keep all scores fair.. SET THIS TO:
UNKNOWN
if you don't... the best case senario is 10 marks are knocked off your total score.... not exactly great... however.. if you end up getting what you are saposed to.... you get nill anyways.... consider yourself lucky.... (for example... if your internet is rated as t3... and you end up with a ping to some random site above 100ms.... boom... you lost 10.. and depending on how bad it is.. you lose more)
I just did a quick run... i ended up with 1420....

I have run a bunch of benches there. I have there 3rd highest svore. Or Had 3 weeks ago anyway. I do not really like it. If you run it in 16bit you will pick up 100 points. Also some of there results are based on internet bandwidth. And they make ya do silly things like turn your temp internet files folder to 65mb to get a better score.
And it does matter if you have programs running. to many and they yellow flag ya.

PCMark 2004
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this subject......health reason's that are unavoidable are to blame. It looks like most everyone involved seems to be able to use PCMark2004 without any problem. I dont really like not having the separate scores......but not much I can do about that. So with this in mind.......here is what we will do.
Everyone that is currently holding a top spot "avatar" please edit your entries to include PCMark 2004 to take the place of PCMark 2002. I will also be sending out PM's to anyone that doesn't get there's updated in the next day or two. This will also include those people that have scores posted for a challenge. I will post in that thread as well and edit the rules to reflect the change.
Since this was one of the many things that many of us encounter in our hobby........I am sure that it isn't much of an inconvience for anyone. So on with the contest guys......lets see what kind of scores we will have to compete with now!!

Okey doke, if I'm not too tired after Emergency Response Training today, I'll get to benching! I made a new partition on my RAID for benching ONLY, so hopefully I'll get some better marks!

free Refil.... depending on were you place that "benchmark" Partition... if could end up making it slower..... for best results... try making a Swap file partition at the very beginning.... C:.... then the benchmark partition: D:... then a windows Partions :E:..... after that... continue on

well good luck anyway, it's gonna be tough to beat Omega . . . contemplating an upgrade?
I see you did crack 130 in 2001 Nature test, something I've been trying for, but doesn't seem to want to happen
Anyway my relatively measly comp manages 19,651 total right now (11626//5365//2660) so I'll not be submitting my links
